Currently i'm on 3.0.

I do not need an unlock (obviously), but i wan't to remain "jailbreakable".
I've read that i need to have a certificate, but i get confused a lot.
Some talk about saurik's cache-server, some about iBEC and iBSS, and other about ecid/shsh blobs.

i have no idea, which is best, but i wan't to do what is possible :)

I do have a Mac (intel, 10.5), but i could also get hands on a windows, if needed.

Haven't restored yet cause I have LOTS of apps with settings I would like to keep and history on them, and I know that if I restore and then recover from backup the issue will continue.

Anyone has found a better solution than restoring and setting as a new phone?

He's imported it from Australia (im in europe) and its supposed to be practically new and factory unlocked at a tempting price. I dont get an invoice or anything like that. OK at this point everything works perfectly - Jailbreak/Hactivation/MMS/Tethering. But periodically I loose Tethering. The option simply dissapears out of the general-Network menu. Blackra1n did the commcenter patching, is there a permissions issue at work here? Is T-Mo resetting it remotely some how?

2nd one come with 3.1.2 otb, no restore, just ran blackra1n to jailbreak and unlock. Rebooted a few times. No problem too!!!

I've never had a problem like this before and I had many, many iPhones. This is my first post at the forum, I'd appreciate your help.

My problem is that I've upgraded my paid 3GS from 3.0.1 to 3.1.2 succesfully using PwnageTool. Once I fire up Cydia I keep getting error messages like: POSIX: Operation timed out for http://apt.saurik.com. From time to time BigBoss source does not work (same error), then I get "failed to fetch errors", the sinfuliphonerepo.com not available (but it is) and I just can not download any applications through Cydia. I tried the unlock with blackra1n and when I ask it to install/download Cydia from my iPhone, it fails. What's going wrong?

On another iPhone (2G, 2.1) I can download whatever I want with Cydia...

Help guys, I re-installed my iPhone soo many times now! It's driving me crazy...

I have abrand new iPhone 3GS, with firmware 3.1.2 original unlocked.

I'm stuck at the (pin)apple logo loop… If I try to restore, it always end with error 23… Here is the itunes log:

I tried to restore the 3.1.2 firmware using iTunes 9.0.2, 8.0.2 in windows and mac, using DFU and recovery mode, and the same error appears everytime…

If I use blackra1n RC3, the geohot's logo is showed, stood for a 3-4 minutes, and then the iPhone reboots (and again in the apple logo loop).

I can use the iRecovery tool, and it works with some commands, but I didn't find it helpfull at all… I run out of ideas…

Is it possible to access to the filesystem or upload a new baseband using iRecovery??? Is it possible to change the apple boot logo from DFU o recovery mode without using iTunes?

Obviously, I can't take the iPhone to an Apple Store, because the pinapple logo…

I asked a friend that uses a 3GS on Rogers (Canada) and he can send pictures direclty from the SMS.App, so it looks like a limitation from my operator.

I've tested the mic with the voice recorder and skype. Both work just fine. It's when I make a regular phone call, the person on the other end cannot hear me.

No one ever complained on 3.0, and I've had the 3GS since the past four months. It's only been since 3.1.2 that anyone's taken issue.

I used pwnage tool and did NOT restore from backup. It was a clean install as a new user.

Right...I've searched around for ages on this one and can't seem to find the solution.

I had a jailbroken iPhone 3GS on 3.0 (via redsn0w) that was working fine n dandy. No probs at all. It's on an official O2 contract so no need for hacktivation/unlock.

When the new Pwnage tool was released for 3.1.2, I thought I'd upgrade to the newer firmeware.

So I backed up my iPhone (iTunes), created my custom IPSW (no hacktivation, cydia only), and restored to pwned firmware. Then I chose to use my backup instead of setting up as new phone.

Everything seemingly working fine...so finished up by installing my Cydia Apps/Addons (Five Icon Dock, Appsync, Backgrounder etc)

Then I found that when I tried to launch any of my Apps that were downloaded from App Store, would just quit on launch. They just wont run! I've tried re-syncing, re-downloading etc. Nada.

Now heres the strangest thing. The Apps that DO work, are the cracked Apps downloaded & installed from other places but the App Store! (And also the stock iPhone Apps).

It's driving me nuts! It's almost as though the phone wants me to use cracked apps! :spinme

Anyone else had this problem? Know the solution?
