ever since the 3.1 update EVERY TIME i plug my iphone into ANY pc its just a matter of time before it freezes up and reboots itself (the spinning circle on the iphone comes up and it locks up and vibrates then I have to reboot it manually or it sometimes randomly does it itself)

This is an issue because I can't do ANYTHING to it. I can't add music, let alone try to a attempt a jailbreak (its a race against when the iphone freezes haha). I gave up on apple fixing this problem becuase 3.1.2 did not fix anything. I attempted a full factory restore and nothing helped. I am pretty sure I have the new baseband because when I try to run blackra1n it pops up itunes in restore mode. I tried to "double run it" yet it did not work at all either (just crashes blackra1n) I run on Mac OSX 10.4.11 and I also have a windows 7 pc. my iphone is 3.1.2 with the new 5.11 baseband(i don't need to unlock I just want to jailbreak and or FIX my iphone so i can at least add music to the thing)

Seeing as how the firmware from apple is not fixing it I was curious if somehow anyone could help me find a way to run pwnagetool on it and install a custom firmware. However the problem is after re-installing the firmware via apple restore it actually is WORSE then before. it happens very quickly that it crashes the iphone.

Any help would be appreciated. I will gladly give more information if needed just I don't know what someone might need. I have tried searching all around on the internet for answers but no one seems to have my exact problem (i have no podcasts, it doesn't auto sync, blah blah blah)

even installed a custom ipcc for MTNL (guided by Carrier Bundle Generator iPhone OS 3.0 - 3.1.2 (ipcc))

The UMTS frequency of MTNL is 1900 & 2100 MHz (Dolphin)
and these frequencies are supported by iphone...(Apple - iPhone - Technical Specifications)

So every 10 minutes the phone will restart (from sticking on the apple logo) and again stick on the apple logo.

I would like to be able to play the low quality youtube videos I get offered being connected to 3G even when I'm connected to WiFi.

This means that I want to do the opposite of 3gunrestrictor which enables you to watch the better quality vids while being connected to 3G only.

Does anybody know what settings 3gunrestrictor tweaks? If I get to know it for the 3G tweaking I might be able to do that for the WiFi config as well!

would appreciate some hints (3g unrestrictor sources would be helfpul)

-i have iphone 3G - OS3.1
-a couple of months ago this started: anytime i powered on the iphone (from its standby mode), WIFI does not kick in right away, takes a few seconds understandably, but if i'm already in a program i.e. text sms, or safari, it pops up a message "could not activate cellular data network" BEFORE the network pops up. so i ALWAYS have to click okay before i can do anything. Of course then it finds the wifi connection and i can do anything i want, but come on! this didnt happen before. (i'm not on any data plan, and never have been)

-it simply tries to find a network seconds before it is available! and the pop up is driving me insane.

I've tried to reset network settings, reboot, delete random apps, turn off all my mail accounts. nothing seems to work! I'm on Rogers network, and i have a factory locked phone to rogers, no jailbreaks/unlocks etcs... i just need this to be solved - i'm certain it's a small fix which i have not figured out how to do.

Any useful tips/suggestions would be much appreciated. I have an iphone 3g 3.1.2 modem fw 05.11.07 JB. The wifi is simply messed up. I have mac addresses for wifi and bluebooth. When i go search for wifi upstairs, most of the time it will not find anything even though my cousins iphone is right beside and finds wifi no problem. If i go closer to my router it will find wifi and connect. Once its connected, i can go back upstairs and go in the same area as before where i couldn’t connect and now i can use wifi. Also whenever i go to my home screen most of the time the wifi singal goes grey but as soon as i go to safari or cydia or app store my signal goes blue. One more thing, i also installed a wifi scanner and it finds wifi all the time where as the apple wifi finder does not!!! I have also done this with my cousin in his house and the same crap happens so i know it’s not my router or his. I have restored my iphone plenty of times with and without jailbreak and the same problems occur. I have resetted network settings, hard reset, shut off phone, turn it on, shut wifi off, turn airplane mode and nothing seems to work.

It's a structure (example): abcdef.1234

When I run login root via terminal and i enter the password correctly it logs me in. However, if i enter the last 3 numbers wrong, or don't enter them it also logs me in. abcdef.1 logs me in, abcdef.1264 logs me in, and so on...

abcdef. doesnt log me in tho. The first number must be correct...

I restored it completely and the situation is still the same... :P

It was on firmware 2.0 and we took it to either 2.1 or 2.2. So for sure it wasn't just firmware upgrade without baseband upgrade.
It was both and the phone was working without the need to jailbreak or unlock.

After some time he wanted to install Cydia and some apps so we jailbrake the phone. Everything was working fine.
Today he decided to upgrade to the latest firmware and he get a locked iphone. :woz:
Which is puzzling me. The phone was purchased from a large elecronics store as factory unlocked. It was upgraded and it remained unlocked. And then after another upgrade it gets locked. While i was there i got it jailbroken and unlocked and updated to v3.0..

Now im back in the UK and the phone still wont seem to work on o2.. ive just got a load of ..... in the left corner...

I read a tutorial for JB however the backup file it linked to was 2.2.2 for some reason. I was not paying attention and saved my stuff to this file:fail

Then I proceeded, but the phone went into recovery mode


I didn't think it through and just followed what the apple website said and restored my phone; not thinking this would be a problem as I had the save file :rolleyes:

now I have a fully wiped iphone with 3.1.2 and all my info is saved in a 2.2.2 file.

Is there any way to get the information from that file?
As everything I have read says there is now possible way to downgrade my phone to 2.2.2

Any help is greatly appreciated,

I have an iphone that a friend of mine used to use. It was not jailbroken or unlocked and was updated to 3.1.2. She has changed networks, and I now want to unlock it, from other threads, I understand that it might not be unlockable. It is currrently at the slide for emergency screen. However what I want to know is how to jailbreak it so I can use the other functions of the phone.
