How do I get my Hac to start using my moniter's actual native resolution.. when I go to System Preferences/Display there's only one resolution avalible and it's much too small. I think my native resolution is 1280x1024, but Mac says it's 1024x768, so the screen seems stretched and distorted. I've tried that program that is supposed to program custom resolutions into your Mac, but it didn't work at all. Any suggestions? If you need any information, I'll be more than happy to share anything that can help get this fixed.

I often get a distorted display when using Safari, where all text becomes unreadable. Just now, while loading a page in Safari, the display became unresponsive and wouldn't let me click anything for almost a minute ... when it came back the text all over the screen was distorted (as if it were smudged or behind water). I see many entries like the following in system.log:

Code:

Nov 17 19:29:06 myhost kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! status = 0xffff info32 = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error

There are also many entries like the following in windowserver.log, but none that seem to correspond with the timing of the NVDA errors above:

Code:

I don't know whether this is a kernel problem (9.8.0, based on Voodoo) or graphics problem (NVKush, GeForce 7600 GT), or if they're two separate problems ... or how to go about checking or fixing this.

Hi all,

After a week of reading, trying, getting errors and swearing. I just had to ask here for help.
I'm trying to get some dual-screen action on my laptop and Samsung Syncmaster.

It's a:
HP Dv5-1150 ED
nVidia 9200m GS, 256 MB
4 gigs of memory
And so on.

Got everything working just fine,even Qe/Ci is working perfect. But no dual-screen support so far.
So did some searching and lots of reading, and found out i had to dump my videocard bios and run it through NVCAP_Maker. So prepared a USB stick to boot DOS, copied nvflash.exe on there along with cwsdpmi.exe.

But it didn't dump. Tried 4 different versions of Nvflash but no luck. Keep ending up with a dump of 0 bytes.
It also gives an error, version: invalid. And with older versions of nvflash I get errors but it gives a ID, EEPROM ID=20,00f. Nvflash 557 says there is one adapter: NB9m-GE?

Really hope someone here can help me out.

Greetings, Byte

I just did an install. It is a laptop with an NVidia chipset, and seems to be using an "NVDARWIN" driver or something.

The problem is, the driver doesn't quite work and the video only works (correctly) when I am Safe mode.

I don't have a problem with this, however, when I boot in "safe" mode, by keyboard doesn't work.

So my question is - is there a way I can tell what video driver it is using (in a "normal" boot, and for a "safe" boot) - and have it use the "safe boot" driver for a "normal boot" too - so I can get my keyboard to work, too?

Ok so yesterday I was able to get the iATOKOS v7 to install on the laptop that's listed in the subject line. I had to disable one of the cores to get it to work; which is fine. However, when I go to boot it up to use it it looks up. So I ran it in verbose mode to see where it hangs up and it appears it stops at the part where it is trying to load the ethernet information.

Is there a way around this so the OS will load. I don't care if the eathernet actually works or not. This laptop does not need to have online access. Just a working version of Leopard is all I need.

Any ideas?

Dear Friends,

After reading alot information and learning many cool stuff - I got OSX 10.5.7 fully working on my Sony Vaio VGN-C1S - i also changed the wifi card to have a broadcom one installed!

However I am having a nightmare in managing to install the Intel GMA 950 (Device ID 0x27a2) to have full QE support which I need to have iworks 09 work! The video card is only using software support.

I have tried installing some kexts for the 950, which i found online, but to no results - since when the laptop restarts I am left with a number vertical lines on a white/grey background. I think I have formated this laptop around 10 times in 3 days.

Any help pls? Any patches/kexts or fixes?

Kindly note I have tried the following three proposed solutions:

1.

* Using Drivers Includded in DellEFI 1.2a5. Or upgrade base Kalyway 10.5.2 installation with "iDeneb.upgrade 10.5.7 by darwinux".
* Before rebooting, I reinstalled the appleintelintegratedframebuffer kext using System/Installation/Packages/Patches/GMA950_appleintelintegratedframebuffer.pkg from the Kalyway 10.5.2 CD.
* Otherwise I got a blue screen on reboot with any of the 3 kernel choices on iDeneb upgrade. The iDeneb upgrade should include this package to simplify upgrades for us GMA 950 folk.
* During your Kalyway 10.5.2 installation make sure to pick the Intel 950 driver in custom options, otherwise you will get the same blue screen treatment.

(from Wiki/index.ph...5.7 - OSx86)

2.
Solved!!

Just re-installled my intel D945GCPE (GMA950 0x2772) with iAtkos 5i using stock kernel and stock drivers and EFI string for intel enabled.. I did this even though I knew it wouldnt give true quartz extreme it only says its supported in the profiler but doesnt actually work.. this might not be necessary but I did it anyway..

Then immediately installed 10.5.7 combo update.. The after the restart the system fails to boot completely but automatically reboots again this time successfully.. not sure if this is normal but it happened the first time I tried updating also.. anyway the system is now 10.5.7..

Now to fix the GMA950 i installed this AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext using OSX86Tools.. then rebooted once more.. on startup I had real quartz extreme acceleration and full resolution changing ability.. I havnt noticed any artifacts as yet and all applications seem to be running as they should be..

I dont know where I got this kext from as I've downloaded a million kexts and driver bundles and packages etc in my efforts to get quartz extreme working again but whoever supplied this driver thank you so much..

I've also attached the stock GMA950 (10.5.7) kexts for those that need it but if you have tried as many other kext packages as I have you might be better off with a clean install as my experience was that some packages install other kexts that might give false positives in the system profiler..

Hope this helps the many others like me who struggled getting quartz extreme back after 10.5.7

(from 10.5.7 GMA950 Quartz Extreme issue - InsanelyMac Forum)

3. I also tried this this morning:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...=#entry1229067

"Sorry for my English. smile.gif

0. Stamina Mode (on GMA950), in BIOS turn ON LCD SCREEN EXPANSION

1. Used 10.5.7 iDeneb v1.5

2. On setup NO VIDEO driver selected.

3. after install and boot, deleted all video kexts from /sys/lib/extensions if any, including appleintelframebuffer.kext and all AppleintelGMA950***, NV***, ATI***, GF***

4. NO RESTART

5. Use KextHelper to intsall attached kexts. (gma950 from 10.5.7. and a AppleIntelIntegratedFrameBuffer.kext from 10.4.8 or 10.4.9, don't know for sure)

6. Restarted and that's it! 1280*800, QE/CI Working on internal screen, no artefacts for now."

But once I started the vaio, all I saw was once again vertical lines and garbage! :-(

I don't know waht else to try pls help!

:spinme does not seem to work apart from software enabled!

Please help!

I also tried 10.5.6 iPC distribution, but it wasn't working and everytime I try to install vanilla kernel, everything stop working.

I've been able to install 10.5.3 update of kalyway with vanilla kernel 9.3 but I had to do update -v two times or more before I had leopard to start and it was starting on darwin 9.2 kernel (every boot, I had to type update -v or it was rebooting, even -x wasn't working). I tried to install 10.5.5 combo update from apple and the installation was interrupted at 12% and the computer was freeze, I had to reboot it with reset button and it doesn't work now (even with -x or update -v).

I would like to know if it is possible to update to 10.5.8 without vanilla kernel? Or is it possible to get vanilla kernel to work?

Hi all,
after a few attempts and a long period of forum readings I've succesfully installed 10.5.5 OSX on my PC.
This is my PC components:
MB= ASUS P5KC (Not the best choice to do that!)
RAM= 4 GB DDR2 800Mhz
CPU= Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2,6Ghz
GPU= Sparkle Nvidia Geforce 9600GT
Chipset=P35
Audio= Onboard ALC883 6ch+Digital
PATA= Jmicron JMB363
LAN= Onboard Attansic L1 Gb + PCI Realtek RTL8139

Everything is working fine altough, every time I reboot, I have to install again the ALC883 drivers and AppleHDA.kext patched to have the audio works.
Now I've upgraded to 10.5.7 and 2 of my USB plugs on the back of the case stops working. I've found a patch called USB fix 1.3 that fix the issue, but I've to do the same thing I did for the audio. It is still manageable but is there any way to install this audio and USB drivers without the needs to reinstall again every time I have to reboot?
I don't know if is it enough clear, but if you have some questions please ask me... if I'll resolve this 2 minor issues the sysop will be perfect.
Thank you in advance for all you answers

I forgot to say that was Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD installation, upgraded 'til 10.5.7 with Apple Delta updates

Hi Guys
Great site!
I have a hackintosh, that works great but i find i cannot overclock beyond 3.24ghz.
if i drop the multiplier to 7.5 i can get the fsb to push until the processor hits 3.24, but thats all, so the board and memory are happy at high fsb.

when i raise the multiplier to 8.5 i have to drop the fsb until the chip is running 3.24 to get stable.

I can run the chip over 3.24 and get post but i get kernel panic on the grey startup page every time.

Its like the os has a speed limit that wont allow me to go beyond 3.24.

I can overclock this same setup further in windows xp? :confused:

can someone tell me if i am missing a processor limiter disabler kext, or bios setting that will allow me to go further.

thanks

i have
asus p5qvm
8300 2.83
vanilla 5.8
