I recently upgraded to a P55 i7 860 rig. Installing iDeneb 10.5.8 lite was a breeze with everything (except sleep, damn you Sapphire 4870HD) working 100%. To my surprise installing 10.6 was almost as easy; installed PCEFI 10.5, fixed DSDT.aml bios reset, all necessary kexts in /extra folder and Qoopz Kernel. After updating to 10.6.2 the vanilla kernel now worked (along with everything else). Yay!
The only problem is that in 10.6.2 (possibly 10.6.X but I updated after fresh install) the system seems to be at 1.5X speed. System clock and video/audio playback run too fast, and certain apps that rely on the time (WoW) hang the system up, needing to do a hard reset. I switched back to the Qoopz kernel and it too is the same. I have not overclocked anything, and need NullAppleCPUPM.kext to avoid KP on startup*.
* KP on CPU07 has no HPET assigned at the moment it's about to go to desktop, which is odd. I am assuming i7 860 run vanilla kernel due to Apple releasing the new i5/i7 iMacs (drool), so in theory AppleIntelCPUPM.kext should also work by default.
I have looked around other forums on this subject and got little results. I guess I am one of those unlucky early adopters of a P55 i7 860 Hackintosh. Reportedly i7 920 users had this problem on X58 chipsets, so I am hoping someone here might have a solution. Believe me, you'd be a hero to many.

Ok so I open terminal and run this command:

ioreg -l -p IODeviceTree | grep firmware-abi

and get this output:

| | "firmware-abi" = <"EFI32">

So I edit my com.apple.boot.plist file and tell it to boot in 64bit mode:

<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>arch=x86_64</string>

then I run terminal again but still get the<"EFI32"> output.

Then I go to system profile and it shows this under System Software Overview:

System Version:	Mac OS X 10.6.2 (10C540)
Kernel Version:	Darwin 10.2.0
Boot Volume:	SNOW
Boot Mode:	Normal
Computer Name:My Mac Pro
User Name:	username
Secure Virtual Memory:	Not Enabled
64-bit Kernel and Extensions:	Yes
Time since boot:	16 minutes

So which is it?!?! 32bit mode or 64bit mode?!?! :spinme It seems to running snappier than Leopard.

Can someone shed some light on this?

Cheers

Ok so I have a snow Leopard partition. A Windows 7 partition and a Backup partition. I want to hide the backup partition from the chameleon...

Ok so I have a snow Leopard partition. A Windows 7 partition and a Backup partition. I want to hide the backup partition from the chameleon bootloader because it does not contain an operating system. It has files that both Snow Leopard and Windows 7 can access through Computer, or for the mac Finder.

So basically I want to hide the backup partition from the chameleon bootloader, but still access it from Windows 7 and Snow Leopard. The partition format is FAT32.

If the above can't be done can I rename the FAT32 partition from Windows FAT32 to something else. I can do it with a NTFS partition, but not FAT32.

If all the above fails if I set the partition to a non bootable partition will it show on the chameleon bootloader. And will I still be able to read, write and view the partition on Computer for Windows 7 and Finder for Mac? If so how can I set the partition as non bootable?

P.S. I would prefer to do the first option: Hiding the partition from JUST the Chameleon bootloader. Nothing else. And could I do this on Windows. If there is a program to do so (that is free) please tell me.

If I have to use command prompt can you guide me through the steps. I am not very good with command prompt at all. :(

Any help appreciated! Thanks.. :D

Ok you might have heard about the new rebel efi?
The newest scam from pystar. at only 50bucks you can do everything you can for free, but with a shiny(er) gui.

The alternative to this monstrosity. is Empire EFI (google it)

download it and burn it to a CD.
When you boot from the cd, wait a minute, then eject and insert your retail DVD.

after the install. you should will have to boot from the empire efi again, but this time select your snow leopard hard drive in the bootloader. When you have booted into SL for the first time, open your empire efi cd, and run the myhack installer. This will install the bootloader to your hard drive.

After that had finished. I had a working installation, but with no sound, usb 2.0 and working graphics card.

download "kext helper" application.

Go to Kexts.com

Download VoodooHDA.kext for snow leopard.
The Intel USB2 ECHI kext.
And for nvdia graphics, the Snow Leopard NVenabler kext.

after this everything was working for me.

I know the guides shit, but i hope it still helps some fellow p5w dh deluxer's

cheers.

Hi I finaly achieved getting UBUNTU, Snow and XP going on my Asus EEEPC 1000HA..

I wish to backup to another computers drive... Nix and windows NO problem.

Mac timemachine ?? it stinks

I found LACIE SilverKeeper.. it works Great and will only cost you your e-mail address.. backup whole drive to sparse image on a network share works well also a lot of other good options,

Check It out
SilverKeeper lets you:
	automatically back up your important data to any drive mounted on the desktop
	save revisions of your work; you can retain several versions
	open your backup files directly with another Macintosh computer running OS X, as files are not
compressed or placed into proprietary archives. SilverKeeper is not required to access your backups
	compare backups to original files and folders
	backup any folder to another folder; backup any volume to another volume
	synchronize two separate folders
	setup multiple Backup sets for comprehensive backups

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated as I am sure it is a small mistake on my behalf that I haven't noticed !

As my laptop reads from the disk everything appears to be fine as it runs through the Darwin screen, then just as the :pie: logo appears my laptop restarts and enters the whole process again. I've used numerous blank DVD's, all written at the lowest possible speed and still no change. The chipset is VIA with Intel Celeron M processor.

Any help greatly appreciated
