I've been searching everywhere but i cant seem to get my problem solved.

I was trying to install osx on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5101 AWLMI (AMD Turion64@2GHz CPU , 1GB RAM, 110GB HD, ATI Radeon Xpress 1100M card). I used Zephyroths 10.5.1 disc followed everystep on a tutorial i found on this forum. Unfortunately my HDD is a SATA drive so the installer didn't see the drive. I took out the drive and put it in a USB shell (device??thingy?) and then the installer saw the drive and i could complete the install. But afterwords when i tried to boot the system it didn't start, all i could see was a black screen with a cursor blinking in the upperleft corner of the screen. I removed the drive from the USB thingy and put it back in the laptop but the same black screen turned up. This i reckon is becuse of the SATA HDD.

So is there anyone who knows how i can get the istaller to recognize my HDD and let me boot into OSX or if there is some other Osx release that will work with my laptop, doesn't have to be leopard could be tiger aswell aslong as its osx.. so fed up with windows and linux...

After following the Lifehacker method of preparing the USB boot disk (with an updated version of Chameleon and boot) I had a look at some of the hardware specs on this forum.

This post caught my attention and I grabbed some of the same hardware components and kept some originals from my old machine:

CPU: Intel i7 920 2.66GHz
GFX: ASUS HD4870 512MB
MOBO: GA-EX58-UD3R
HDD: 1TB Seagate HDD SATA
RAM: 6GB Kingston DDR3

I changed all the BIOS settings (seeing as the mobos are similar) to the recommeded on the Lifehacker web site (see the link above) and away I booted.

I get to the Apple loading screen and then it just does that for eternity. I had a look around and apparently that means the gfx card isn't supported; but then I had a look on the Chameleon site and the new one reckons it is supported.

Any ideas on what I can do/did wrong?

I'm open to other methods of booting rather than using Lifehacker; I'm not too hardware-savvy so please be patient with me :P

Cheers for any help :)

Hi guys how are you all

really i need your help in this

so i joined your cool OSX86 Society to try mac and really it is so awesome

but the main reason that make me join you is

Final Cut Studio Pro 2.0

as am working in Editing and Videos and i can`t afford buying Real Mac For now

so i got the iAtkos V7

on my PC which Specification is :

M.B. : Giga-Byte GA-EP31-DS3L
Processor : Intel Core 2 Due E4600 2.4/2m
Ram : 2*2 Kingstone
Drive : Sony DVD-RW Sata Drive
VGA : XFX Geforce 8400 GS Fully Working ( Has QE/CI )
H.D.D : W.D 250 Sata

So I Downloaded the whole 52 Gigas Final Cut Program and Begin to install

and it`s ok i finished installing

but when launching the final cut

it loads but before it finishes loading

popup message appear and says can`t load external a/v something i don`t remember

and the main problem is final cut seeking

Apple FireWire

And I Don`t have any fire wire ports

so how we could solve this out

So Any modifications to files or some thing

or can u tell me any FW cards to buy or tell me what to make this final work

thank u in advance

This is the configuration i used.
My doubt is the GPU... which is the most powerful GPU supported by Mac? On the nVIDIA support site i've seen that there are the driver for OX S for the GTX 285...but if i could use the ATI 5870 it would be wuuumbastic :):)

Please let me know if i have to change GPU :)

I have looked through IOPCIFamily for a way to include my vendor info but haven't found a solution. My issue is the card is not "seen" by OSX?? I have installed the airport card in the WWAN pci-e slot to get around the BIOS whitelist problem. Maybe that has something to do with it. The atheros card is not seen either though and it is plugged into the WLAN slot. Please help.

Hi everybody - I've searched around a bit, but I'd like just to ask the question.

I'd like to build a stabile hackintosh for serious music production. I'm looking to use Leopard right now with 2-3 PCIe different products (UAD, DUENDE, POWERCORE) and 1 firewire soundcard (TC Studio konnekt).

The perfect hackintosh for me is difficult to build, and takes lots of time to configure, but when it's up and running, it's easy to upgrade with new software/program updates (like 1.5.9??), xtra harddrives and more firewire audio equipment (with no hastle). If, at all possible, I'd like somtime in the future, to update to Snow Leopard WITHOUT reinstalling the whole computer, with software, updates and everything.

My question is: Should I look more into getting a Hackintosh?

EDIT: A friend told me to get the EFIX USB dongle - a good idea?

Now I'm not using this method because I'm lazy, I'm simply using it because it would be very hard for me to get to a Mac computer for any of the other methods I've read about. I have seen the Asus Striker Extreme motherboard running OSX Leopard before, so I was just wondering is it possible with Snow Leopard? Also is there ANY way of doing it without having to use a Mac computer. My CPU is an Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 and I am running a nVidia 8800 GT GFX card. Thanks for the help!

So I reached the point where my G4 powerbook just doesnt cut it anymore. Instead of buying another mac I figured I could build a hackintosh and get better results. Never built a PC before, but it looks straightforward enough from all guides I have read.

So I came up with this parts list, based in part on a post I saw on Lifehacker.
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...umber=11320685

My questions are thus:
Is the power supply big enough? (850w)
I want to run dual 22" monitors. Do I need 2 video cards to do that, or will one be enough? I'd like to do some gaming on this. Should I go for one $300 card, or two $150 in SLI?
Can I dual boot 10.6 and Win7 on this? Do I need a 3rd HD just for the windows install?

Notice anything thats missing?

Thanks for the help!

Hey,

I'm having trouble installing my TP-LINK TL-WN321G Wireless USB Drive. Everytime I plug it in, the WLAN Setup app opens and then there is a kernal panic and I have to restart.

Usually this stick works on other computers so I figure it should be compatible. I'm guessing its due to the fact when I installed it, I wasnt sure what wireless card I had so I installed them all.

Right now, I am planning to install a copy on a external drive to tweak around the settings now that I know my laptop inside out, however I'm hoping I won't have to reinstall a million times before I get it right. So perhaps someone has a clue what went wrong?

Do I need to add a kext? or Drivers?

Thank you.

My laptop is a Acer 5570z w/ 2GB Memory and I am using iDeneb 1.6.

I used the 1005he install to get my 1005ha to 1.5.6

I swapped my atheros wifi card with a dell one I got off the net : Broadcom - bcm94312mcg. Tested it on windows XP dual partition and it works as a charm.

Osx seems to not detect the card at all however. I booted with -v -f and I see the following message:

InterfaceNamer: no network interfaces, could not update platform UUID

Anyone able to offer some advice? Should I load some kexts? Is there a DL I can use or is it a hardware issue?

I've already successfully hackintoshed a lenovo r61e and a dell dimension e310.
Now I'm trying to get a friends e-machines T2682 mac'd out but the installer is grainy looking and in all black & white, so i figure we need a better graphics card.
He's willing to purchase a graphics card at one of our local best buy's. What would be our best option? Not looking for anything amazing, best price but works would be the best.
Any help would be so appreciated.

Hello my friends,

I am relatively new (almost two years) to MAC and I love it. I've installed on an Intel based PC with the generous help from this forum the Leopard and I am very happy with it. I am kind of newbie and not very familiar with terminal commands but I could follow instructions and in the past I was successful using it.

I bought an AppleTV, hacked it, loaded tons of movies but I am a little disappointed in terms of hardware capabilities. I can not play MKV movies encoded in 720p or higher. I download 720p movies in MKV, then convert them to MV4 or MP4 to be able to play them on AppleTV but I found very difficult to add subtitles and not to mention that it is a lot of time consuming for conversion.

Therefore, I am looking into building my own HTPC or PC/Media to be more capable and be OK to play HD movies in MKV format, even 1080 movies too. I already have a PC enclosure in a small format with 350W power supply. It fits a small format motherboard (9.5x9.5") and found one with HDMI output, video card integrated and a good prcessor(AMD). Model number: ASUS M3A78-EM

I wish to ask your opinion and advice:
- Should I go for it and then install Leo on it?
- Or should I focus more on Intel based MB?
- I wish to add a dongle infrared that I have to be able to control for instance the VLC player by remote. Are the drivers accessible? Is it possible?
- I wish to add a bluetooth dongle that I have to be able to connect a mouse and keyboard. Is it possible, easy to do?
- And again, is it possible to install on top of Leo the AppleTV software or similar, so I could access the same features as I have now with AppleTV and make it easy for wife? ;)

Hi guys as you can probably see, I am VERY new to the forums... and I was wondering if anybody could help me out with a couple of things...

The other week I went on holiday and I had surprisingly an apple TV to play around in my room with I really liked it! If I built an hackint0sh would I be able to run the "media centre" style program on it?

So far this is my set-up:

Processor: Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L
Ram: Kingston 1gb KVR533D2N4/1G X2
Graphics: ???

I am not sure what graphics card to get could anybody suggest something that is VERY cheap but compatible (as you can probably tell I am building on a budget!)?

and lastly,

am I limited to what OS I can use with this set-up? for example will I be able to run Snow Leopard or will I be limited to a previous version?

Thanks LOADS! (i am kinda baffled here! :fail)

Hey guys ! I first got a Mac 1 1/2 years ago. I really enjoyed using the MacBook. I would like to now build a desktop computer. I have chosen this hardware configuration. What do you think?

Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

MSI N260GTX-T2D896-OCv3 GeForce GTX 260 896MB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920

How future proof is this? Doe any one know when nVidias new card is coming out? Will the hardware work as a hackintosh? Thanks ahead of time, Jon
