Will these hardware specs work for dual-boot Vista 64-bit/iATKOS?
Hello everyone. First time poster, obviously.
I am...pretty newbie at all of this. However, work considerations have me considering converting my existing PC rig into a dual-boot Vista 64-bit/Snow Leopard rig.
I was told that I should post my specs at a reputable forum such as this to see if it would be even possible.
Here are the specs that I believe are pertinent:
Motherboard: Asus P5N-D
Hard drive: 1 partition - 698.63 gb, 74.74 gb free, Windows Vista 64-bit currently installed
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9550 @2.83 ghz
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280
Will this work? And if this hardware setup does, indeed, work, I can just shrink my Windows partition, make a new partition, and install iATKOS there, right?
I also had a few questions:
- Does iATKOS come in 64-bit. I am planning to use this partition solely for editing using Final Cut Studio, and I was told 64-bit would be a good way to go.
- What is the difference between iATKOS v7 and iATKOS S3 v2?
- If my specs do, indeed, work, will following the installation instructions at the following link work? HowTo: Install OsX86 Leopard (iATKOS v7) on Dell Inspiron 1545 « Deviato
- I found something about having to "find your graphics cards" after iATKOS is installed. What is that all about?
Obviously, I'm super newbie to all this, hence the rather dumb questions.
Thank you!
