    Default Recommendation

Hi Guys, this is my first time here, after attempting to install (iDeneb_v1.6_1058_Lite_Edition) and failing (Getting to the apple loading screen (installed perfect) and the swirly loading thing happening but just getting stuck there))

I was wondering which Distrubtion would work well with my PC?

    AMD Athlon X2 5600+
    Asus M2N-E
    Nvidia 250GS

If theres anything more you need to know, feel free to ask, I really want to be working with Mac OSX and I'm not one to spend 2000 on a new setup when I don't really _NEED_ it.

    Thanks!

    Hi there,
About distro? You got the best in 10.5.x already.
Boot with options -x -v and post your error message.
Also if you could post your setup and customization info then that will be easier for assisting.
    Regards,

Okay, this is going to sound really stupid but, what do you mean by "Setup and customization info?" You mean the kernal and things?

Also, how do I boot the operating system up with -x -v? I used those options when I originally installed the OS but when I boot up my system now it says press any key to go to advance startup options, a Windows icon appears and a MAC icon appears.

This is the error I'm having at a GUI point of view (http://peilun.com/_misc/grayscreen.jpg) but I can't see any errors.

Sorry for being such a noob.

    Hi there,
That is a nice picture but it doesn't tell much beside the fact that no smoking while having an apple or can have a bitten apple There are so many incompatibilities that will give out that picture, and you may not want me to guess.
That is why you need the boot option -x -v so you can decipher the error message that OSX is hanging at.
When you select the MAC icon then just type those boot options in.
    Post your error message.
    Regards,

    Thanks for all your help.

I booted -x -v and the error was "Waiting for root device"

    I currently have 2 x Sata HDD's and 1 x IDE DVDRW.

I'm sure I seen a "Kext" fix on the "Customization" screen, but I never really ticked any "Fixes", so maybe I'll have to do a fresh install with the fixes?

    Hi there,
    That is much better.
Actually yours is not AHCI supported.
Let me do some check for you.

    Hi,
According to Asus web site, your motherboard chipsets south bridge is of the MCP570 set, and it is not fully AHCI supported.
But your already have the best solutions there, Ideneb 1.6 and your hardware setup.
So during your installation, you need to select your chipsets drivers/parches for it to work, nForce fixed.
Do an installation again, at the installer screen, there is a hardware info tab, you will see all hardware that OSX recognizes, and so make your selection of drivers/fixed base on those. Don't forget your nForce.

Give it a try. Hope this help. Good luck,
    Regards,
