Hi im wondering what distro and if someone has managed to get the dell latitude e4300 laptop working?
Thanx
Can you please post your full specs here, no links, btw did you check in the HCL?
Thx
I can get it to work with a usb distro (iPortable) but i have trouble getting it installed to the harddrive.....
So i think i can get it to work on this model i also have been working on a retail build but with no luck so far i have no problems on my other portable (d620) or desktop based on (GA EP35)by using a retail hackingtosh but this nice litle machine is giving me trouble so far :(
And yes i have googled for it and looked at HCL but with no luck so far ....im going to give it a try with the xxx distro today also.....
any tips will make me happy :)
spec Dell Latitude E4300
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo SP9300
Memory: 4GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM
Graphics: Mobile Intel 4 series express chipset family
Lan: intel 82567lm gigabit network connection
Wireless: Intel wifi link 5100 agn
Bluetoth: Dell wireless 365 bluetoth module
sound: intel high defintion audio hdmi service
secure id card: sda standard compliant sd host controller
Well I think you wont have trouble with the installation, but I think theres no support for your video card, and wifi maybe, research a bit about those, and report back your progress if you finally install XxX distro
Ok i got all to work now exepct sound and network:)
I used the dellefi for the trackpad and keyboard.
And i used the the driver for 950 for the gfx card.
The xxx distro worked perfectly.
Nice, thx for sharing the info surely will help other users, check the HCL, if your lappy is not there, please post it
Installation options:
What i did was to use the xxx 10.5.6 distro and only use the kext for the laptopdisplay and some fixes and tools that is included.
Set ACHI in bios
Mostly defaults installation options but with following kexts
Lan: intel82566mm
Grafix: Laptopdisplay got 1280x800 Q after tweak
Wifi non working kext
Sound VoodooIntel2200BG-05
Bluetoth: Dellbluetoothhci
Other kexts:
acpips2nub
appleacpibatterymanager
applehda
appleps2controller
dsmos
hdaenabler
intelcpupmdisabler
ambiosresolver
I did fix the resolution to 1280x800 and i got it to work.
After installation i used osx86tools and enabled Quartz then after that reeboot i used the osx86tools to edit the efi string for the display to use 1280x800 btw im using the latest chamelon bootloader.
Now it all works but i have not used any kext for the 4500 that a lot of people tak about cause i could not get that to work so instead i used the one that in the distro by name laptopdisplay........
Hello,
I'm quite new in hackint0shing ... I've got a Dell E4300, and after lots and lots of hours trying to install a distrib, I succedeed in having a double boot Win XP / OSx86, but when I boot, I have a grey apple with the message : "you need to restart your computer".
In the -v option, it stops after saying :
Kernel version:
Darwin Kernel version 9.7.0: Tue Mar 31 22:52:17 PDT 2009; root:xnu-1228.12.14~1/RELEASE_I386
System model name : Latitude E4300
System uptime in nanonseconds: 20296871430
Could somebody help me pleaaaaaaaaaaase ? :)
Thanks a lot
