Default Not sure which distro to go with for my hardware

Hi guys, I'm new to the scene and really anxious to get into the mac world as I'm a developer and want to start learning iPhone development, but I don't want to go out and buy a mac just yet.

I have an two systems I can use to install, the first is an older desktop. I'll list the main specs, but this link has all the info: [H] Enthusiast - Shuttle AN50R

    MB: Shuttle AN50R Nforce3
    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200
    RAM: 3gb Kingston
    HD: Have 80gb IDE
    ATI Radeon X1950 AGP

I also have a newer laptop with the following specs that I currently use Windows 7 Beta on it, but wouldn't mind getting OSX to work on it. Here's its specs.

    ASUS G1S-B2
    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 2.4ghz
    RAM: 3gb DDR2
    NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

    Here's a link to its specs: Newegg.com - ASUS G Series G1S-B2 NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T7700(2.40GHz) 15.4" Wide SXGA+ 3GB Memory DDR2 667 200GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT - Laptops / Notebooks

It really doesn't matter to me which system I install OSX on, I'm ultimately looking for which will be the easiest to install and easiest to maintain with updates. The main point of doing this is to start learning OSX and to be able to use the development tools, d/l and install the iPhone SDK, and use any other related software. Don't need to run games or extreme graphical apps.

    What do you guys suggest?

I think the second one is the best choice, check the HCL, and try with iPC or Leo4all, check the official site for each distro to know the basic, good luck ;D

    Thanks for the suggestion.
I understand there's multiple versions of Leo4all and have seen v3, v4.1, and I read about a v5? Are these just updated versions or are they designed for specific hardware platforms?

Had tried iPC 10.5.6 and Leo4allV3 last night on the laptop (2nd system listed) and both of them reacted the same.

Would boot up and the disk would begin loading, some info would pass down the screen and the system would reboot. I tried using -s and a grey apple screen appeared for a split second, and then reboot. Also tried with -v and -f but still rebooted about the same time.

Is this some sort of kext issue that I may need to change before buring the disk?
Or some other issue I need to address?

Thanks I'll give that a shot when I get home from work this afternoon. I have not been able to find a v5 leo4all release just yet. I tried the v3 because there were a ton of seeders and I got it down within 3hrs lol
