HP Pavilion DV4 2045dx - Which Distro recommend & my experiences.
I have included the stats below for my HP Pavilion DV4 2045dx and have not seen any success with this model specifically so I thought I'd post. If anyone knows which distribution to use please.... that is my main question, and if you have installation instructions or links to tutorials please provide them.
I first installed iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5 Leopard. This installed partially. Once it rebooted I hit F8 then -s (single user) then at the prompt mount -uw /
Then I tried "passwd root" and I got passwd command not found. I typed 'help' and passwd was not listed as a command. If it had worked I would enter touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone then 'exit' as seen in the tutorial I followed here:
YouTube - Install Mac OS X on any PC for Free! | Part 1: Preparing to Install
unable to set proper settings I exit out and continue boot, and I get error messages like "root filesystem is read only - skipping kernel link data generation... unable to mount dev/disk3s1 etc...
Then /dev/rdisk1s3 (NO WRITE) device is write locked...
Mainly errors of this nature and then I couldn't finish the installation. It put me in a loop back to the beginning.
Then I tried iDeneb v1.6 10.5.8 Lite Edition Leopard. I had similar results also and ended up in a loop.
Then I tried iATKOS v7 which didn't even load as far as ideneb, then I tried iATKOS V5 which also was worse than ideneb.
Then something strange happened by mistake I had a ideneb partial installation on there and during the mix up I stuck in the iATKOS disk and entered:
F8 then -v -x -y cpus=1
It just picked up and finished the iDeneb installation where I entered my data on the user accounts and registration screens. My webcam detected, took my user picture, then I was on desktop with iDeneb on the background. I was not able to use the wireless connection to the internet, and before I rebooted twice going back into windows. Then I was in OSX and for some reason I was browsing the top tool bar and the GUI drop down boxes that would open started flickering erratically and the wireless rocketfish mouse I was using froze on the screen. I did a forced reboot and it remained in this corrupted state. I tried to reboot again and then the OS wouldn't load permanently.
Those are my experiences and I hope they help someone. If anyone had a positive experience with the DV4 2045dx please let me know what distribution they used. What other recommendations they may have. Thank you.

iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5 Leopard works with this machine. There are driver issues however I am still working on. The Atheros wireless drives does not work and will update more results later.
