hackintosh nub needs distro advice for a ibm tp t42
A guy at work had a dell hackintosh using iatkos 5. He gave me his install DVD after setting up his dell. We tried it on my Thinkpad T42p and chose what we thought would be the best drivers. Everything installed fine, he did the partitioning because he said it's extremely picky on that. Went to boot and it just sat there and spun at the apple splash screen. Wouldn't do anything more than that, I let it sit overnight to see if it would get the universal error thing and it didnt. We then tried installing without selecting any drivers/etc. It did the exact same thing.
I want to try iatkos 4, I actually have the iso for it, just a matter of getting it burned to a dvd. I was wondering what you guys think would be the best distro though. I don't know anything about hackintosh's, but kind of want to try mac without spending a whole paycheck on one.
Quick runthrough of my specs incase they are needed...
Intel Pentium M 1.7g
1g pc2700 ram
ati radeon 7500 (very common card for this vintage lappy) which spits out a max res of 1024x768
40gig pata hdd
intel pro wireless and intel eth adapter
not sure on the chipset :-\sorry
Any input would be sweet. THANK!!!!

Hey I have the same laptop, I'm trying to install iAtkos v5 or Kalyway. I haven't been successful in even getting to the install options. Can you tell me how you got to the customize screen? I've tried many different settings in the BIOS and it doesn't seem to work!

I was able to install Kalyway 10.5.2, I partitioned the hard drive and used MBR (Master Boot Record) in the Disk Utility (during the install process). Under customize, I chose:
-Kernel_9.2_speedstep
-Realtek Sigmatel Conexant...
-IO80211 Family (support for airport...)
-WiFi Atheros Airport
-MoBo Chipsets (selected all)
-SSE2_JaS 1048_ACPI_APIC (selected all)
-lasnetkasssmbios
Look for these options in the menus, right before you install click customize. You'll see this here.
