So I have a 10.5.4 disc and here are my specs (before you even ask!!!):

P5Q Pro (P45 and ICH10R)
e8400 c2d 3.76
8 gigs XMS2 (ddr2 800 - 4 sticks of 2 gig)
4850 (hopefully this will work for MAYA or 3dsMax etc...)
SATA hdd/dvdrw

I burned the iso, but before I destroy my baby (vista took me 4 months to get stable lol), I wanted to make sure I don't need to flash the BIOS or anything like that...

I want to dual boot with my vista disk if possible (I have an extra sata laying around) and I can just select the boot disk from the BIOS every time if I have to. As long as I can tell what I'm doing!

so I tried the grub cd, and it worked marvelously (burned at 1x on the first try).

When it got to Boot: I popped in the 10.5.4 dvd.

Hit enter a couple times, then stuff happened. DVD came up, and said to just boot darwin, hit enter. So I did. (All drives on ICHR at this point haha missed that the first time around!!!)

got 4 errors. All the same.

EBIOS read error: Error 0x01
Sector ##### blocks 64

((or was it blocks ##### sector 64?))

Sorry if error msg is off, its from memory...

SO - go ahead and tell me about my n00b mistake... I hope. (those are the easy ones to fix XD)

The EBIOS read error can be a couple things actually. It can be a bios setting. If your using sata config it to ahci. It can be a bad burn, dirty rom drive. Something simple yet complicated until figured out.

The only really really bad issue that can hault you from ever going foward is if your error is because you are using an ICH10 based board!

I am a nOOb to all of this. I have an old G3 800mhz ibook running tiger that I love however I can't install Leo on it and a windows desktop (AMD won't work).

I would like to build a Mac desktop computer from scratch. I was looking at the hardware that you have, is that a good set-up? I don't have anything. I would like to build something that doesn't cost a lot and that would be easy to set up right from the start. Can you provide a list of hardware and a .iso boot image to make it work? I will purchase the Leopard Disk.

I am finding that a lot of the lists have hardware that is outdated and discontinued. Maybe this can be a new thread for 2009. Any help that you can give would be great. Thank You in advance! Mike

I also got the weird 4-time EBIOS error at the very beginning of my DVD loading, but the installation was no problem

So I guess guys seeing the EBIOS error and can't get the Installation GUI up must have another problem, like BIOS setting.

Here's my spec:

Hitachi 1T HDD

Robios I think there guides for your mobo... did you google it?

I am using an ICH10R mobo... I've heard of people using this mobo with Leo before though... Do I need a modded BIOS? It is P45 as well... Should I just scrounge for a G33 or something? I care less about performance now, and I am more interested in using Maya2009 w/o a workstation card lol. Radeons are qualified for mac, but PC needs FireGLs (and I don't have $1200 for a card...)

i am trying to install leo on sony vaio vgn-cr120E
i burnt the iso
i booted it
and installed the OS DVD
booted the apple logo
then i got screen with nothing .. just disturbed screen
what could be the problem?

I seem to be having a problem and I really need help.
So I boot up on the iso. Press enter to chose the mac os x leopard boot loader. I get to darwin x86. Then I remove the Iso from the DVD player and insert retail Mac os X leopard 10.5.1 Press escape and this is what it tells me:
'Enter two digit hexadecimal boot device [9f]. I tried entering 90 but nothing happens. So I then press 9f and enter. It's starts load. Then it is written something like 'search cpu multiplier and says RSDMR18#h may cause failure. This is really quick and I am writing this from memory. so sorry for the errors.
What am I doing wrong. I burnt the .iso a the slowest speed possible (x4 for me).

My specs are:
Pentium dual core 1.8 Ghz
Asus P5VD2-MX mobo
ATI x1800 GTO
2048mb of ram
Hitachi Sata Hard drive
IDE DVD player.

I also couldn't run installation. I started it with -v option and got an error :
