I have done quite a bit of searching and with everything changing so often I am just unsure of where to start. Here is the specs of the system I have and I am just looking to see what the experts would recommend for a distro and anything special I may have to do to get things working properly.

Motherboard: Intel 865GBF Intel Spec Sheet

Graphics: ATI HD3650

HDD: Raid-0 Western Digital 36GB (WD360GD)

Raid Controller: WD Serial ATA RAID Controller Card WD Spec Page

I did my best to get the correct information here before I asked my question. If anyone needs differing information or something else please let me know!

Obviously I am looking for a 10.5.x build as my machine will not do x64.

Seems compatible, try with iPC or iAtkos v7, check the basic info for each distro and try, report back if you have any issue

It took quite a while before my post was approved by a mod so I had iDeneb v1.4 so I gave that a try.

Also, the only hardware change is that I did away with the RAID controller as I could not get OSX to recognize any hard drive with it installed in my computer. I also tried to make a RAID-0 drive through the OS X installer, but it would fail to start the RAID drive every time Any suggestions on how to get this to work would be great as well. For now, I am just installing to a single SATA WD Raptor drive.

I only checked the things in iDeneb that I needed for my hardware the first install (No kernel) and when the bootloader started it would just restart my computer.

The second install, I checked the following:

KERNEL: Voodoo
chipset: ichx fixed, applegenericpcata
video: ATI HD3650AGP
network: intel PRO100
audio: appleazaliaudio

This time after the bootloader it showed the apple logo and the loading symbol, but then it just freezes after about 15 seconds and the hard drive goes silent.

Booting with tags such as -x -s -v -f only shows one error in the middle of loading. I am at work right now posting about this so I apologize I dont have it word for word, but it said error IOGetTree.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...I will have more details when I get home later today though.

it turns out the issue was the video drivers. i now am posting this from the hackint0sh install.

unforunately even installing the kext for my video card causes the same issue and then i had to reinstall.

if anyone has ideas for getting the HD3650 AGP working with osx that would be great. I have found a great driver site for ATi, RadeonHD osx86 drivers

these drivers did not work for me either though
