    Default Dell Vostro 1510

I'm planning to install Mac OS X inn the upcoming easter hollidays.
The computer I plan to install this on is my Dell Vostro 1510 notebook.

    These are it's specifications:
    • Processor Intel Core 2 Duo T5670 (1.8 GHz, 2 MB L2-cache)
    • Memory 2 GB (1 x 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 Memory)
    • Hard Drive 160 GB Serial ATA (5.400 rpm) Hard Drive
    • Optical Drive 8x DVD+/-RW Drive
    • Graphics Intel Integrated GMA X3100
    • Ethernet Realtek RTL8168C/8111C Gigabit Ethernet Controller
    • Wireless Intel Pro Wireless 3945 (802.11 a/b/g)

I've google'd around a bit and found this guide.
I post here however, because the guide is dated from August 2008 and it doesn't have all the same hardware as me.

    Thanks,
    Shika

Heyy i've got the same lappie and i must say you can get everything perfectly running.

It seems to me that the IPC OSX final works wunderful with this piece.

Just select the voodoo kernel and the seatbelt.kext and it boots(to get graphic with full Quartz EX support)
Also intsall the osx86 tools for install sound and other drivers
    ----
maybe i will release soon my Vostro 1510 driver package and a easy tutorial
    ----

after that you could grab all your things together to mentain the system.

I'm currently running IPC as well, the only problem I have is the power functions. Powerdown doesn't work, restart occassionally works (really weird) and sleep doesn't work.

Anyone got this working with IPC running 10.5.6 or 10.5.7?

Currently running MacOSX on my Vostro 1510. Using the iPC distrobution, running Leopard 10.5.6.

    Currently installed kernel:
9.3.0 Sleep kernel (did not fix the sleep issues)

    Drivers:
    Video: NVDarwin 256
    Audio: ALC268 (not supporting auto-switch)
    Ethernet: Realtek R1000
    WiFi: Broadcom
    Powermanagement: AppleACPIBatteryManager
    AppleACPIPowerSource
Clamshell Display Support (sleep on closing display)

    Fixes and Patches:
Seatbelt.kext 10.5.5 (fixes crashing on installing .DMG images)
Shutdown/Restart Fix (not sure whether this has an effect, currently shutdown does not work properly, restart does)
VoodooPower (not sure whether this has an effect, currently shutdown does not work properly, restart does)
PS/2 Keyboard Fix (to fix keyboard, only got this working by installing kext AFTER installing iPC)
PS/2 Mouse Fix (to fix touchpad, only got this working by installing kext AFTER installing iPC)
    AppleSMBIOS-27 Rev3 667 MHz (suggested so installed)

    Extra KEXT installed:
    VoodooUSBEHCI (Enables sleep!) Darwin

    Currently not working:
    Tap-to-click touchpad
    Scrolling with touchpad
    Shutdown
    Numlock
    Automatic audio switching
Multimedia Keys (Working: Volume up & volume down)

    Not tested:
    External display
    Firewire
    PCMCIA
    SD Cardholder

Everything else not mentioned such as webcam (working) are eithe rworking or I haven't tested them yet or I haven't thought of them yet. Hope this helps anyone.

Default ...so what's the verdict here, guys?

So, after hours and hours of research, and after having already built a DellMini Hackintosh (using genuine OSX installation and DellEFI drivers), I've been looking to turn my Dell Vostro 1510 into a MAC.

    A few questions:
    1) Can I install OSX natively to it, as I did with my DellMini (used an external USB drive with the installation image of 10.5.8 on it to install directly)...or do I HAVE to use an OSX86 distro like ideneb, IPC, KalyWAY etc?

    2) Has anybody actually managed to come to the final point of functionality with this thing? That is, has anybody finally figured out, for certain, all the things that do and don't work on it-conclusively- or are people still playing with it?

    3) Where's the most updated guide you can refer me to in order to get as much of this system to work, as possible?

    4) Finally, which distro would be most recommended?

It says a few posts up, that somebody managed to solve most/all of the issues with the functionality of the Notebook. Any help/updates/places to point me?
