standard procedure with a recently new iphone

i would like your inputs on the best way to jb and unlock a brand new iphone 3.1.2 with bootloader 5.11.07 i believe week 48. i was thinking jb with pwng tool with a new custom firmware and then using blacksn0w for unlocking. i am open for inputs.

That is not possible with pwnage right now, because your iphone has the new bootrom in it. The new bottrom was introduced after week 40, So the only thing you can do right now is to use blackrain to jailbreak which is a tethered jailbreak which means everytime you turn off, or your phone runs out of battery or needs a reboot you have to rejailbreak it. After the jailbreak you can use blacksnow to unlock it.

If it is a 3GS that was made after week 40 you can only use blackra1n to jailbreak due to pwnagetool not supporting the updated bootrom in the latest 3GS iPhones.

5.11.07 refers to the baseband not the bootloader. This version can be unlocked with blacksn0w.

So in summary, blackra1n for jailbreak, blacksn0w for unlock and blackra1n again each time the iPhone needs to be restarted.

Does that mean everytime it reboots, iphone locked again to original carrier?
and I need to run jailbreak then unlock everytime?

or phone will be in stuck mode and it needs jailbreak to run it normally?
