Restore/Password (known) Trouble/Broken Power Button

Hello,

I have an iphone 3g with baseband 3.1.2 that has recently been into restore mode. When I plug the iphone into restore it i get a warning stating that it can not proceed as I need to enter the password (which I do know), but I am unable to enter the password in restore mode. I am also unable to enter dfu mode as my power key is broken. Is there any work around for this or do I need to have the power button replaced so that I can enter dfu to work around the password? Thanks-any help would be appreciated!

Do a search on the forum, there's a way to force entry into DFU mode by uploading a corrupt ramdisk during the flashing process. Olethros is more versed than I am on that sort of thing, but a quick search for "DFU ramdisk" should pop up a few threads that cover how to do this.

It's not a corrupt ramdisk, but actually an invalid LLB (NOR image). As n1ckn4m3 said, do a search.
Also, there was a beta "mac only" tool that came from the iPhonelinux scene which could enter DFU on the iPhone 3G. Search for that also.
