Need help with bypassing iphone activation...

I have a restored iphone 3gs 16 gb 3.1.2 broad baseband 5.11.07 not unlocked or jailbroken and now im trying to bypass that activation screen that says no sim card installed. I tried to hacktivate the iphone using the blackra1n downloaded off the site and when i try it itunes automatically pops up and asks to restore it which it successfully does. I have a windows vista os and i tried setting the compatibility to windows xp. I just don't know what to do i've tried googling but too many things pop up and i get confused. I was wondering if any could just point me in the right direction or just tell me what to do. Does the iphone need to be turned off when trying to run blackra1n? Thank you for anyone who can help..

Just quit iTunes when it pops up and run blackra1n
