Oh my god... please help me...
I recently got BlackSn0w and jailbreaked my iPhone 3GS Firmware 3.1.2, everything was perfect for a while...
I installed Cydia, then through Cydia I added lots of sources, and downloaded some themes as well as Winterboard... I was then asked to restart my iPhone
Then the problems began!!!
I have been put into recovery mode and i have been in there for the past many hours trying to figure out how to solve this problem... I have been into DFU mode a few times but it doesnt solve anything. here's what happens
- A few times I was able to restore my iPhone to its original 3.1.2 version but it did NOTHING, it just put me back into the screen I was on before, which is the recovery mode screen (shows a cable, followed by an arrow, and then iTunes logo)... iTunes thinks the recovery process was a success
- I used to get the Error 6, but now i seem to be getting Error 13 when i am trying to restore my iPhone ever since i updated my iTunes version
I have tried everything I can think of:
- Various USB ports
- Turn off firewall
- Switch to DFU mode
- Restore various firmwares
- Upgrade iTunes
etc. etc. NOTHING WORKS!!!!
I am almost in tears since i spent $800 and nothing works anymore, pleeeease help me

Have you tried a different computer? Especially if you are on windows sometimes the only solution is to restore on a mac for some strange reason.
You know also that once the restore is complete, the screen looks nearly the same (connect to iTunes) but there is a slide for emergency option.
If you get this screen, the restore was sucessful but you need to activate the phone. You do this either via iTunes (if you have access to a legitimate sim) or by jailbreaking with blackra1n
Blackra1n's hacktivation is bare bones and I would always recommend pwnagetool for hacktivation instead.

I dont have a mac... are there any other alternatives such as tethering???
And there is no emergency option on my screen, there is nothing i can do to take control of my iPhone. All restores always show up with errors, and if they succeed, nothing ever changes it just takes me back to the original screen
If worst comes to worst and i cant do anything about it, can i just call apple for help or something?

Think you misunderstand the concept of a tethered jailbreak. You either have the bootrom that supports full jailbreak or the new bootrom that only supports a tethered jailbreak, there is nothing in software you can do to choose between the two types of jailbreak. The bootrom cannot be updated or changed short of physically soldering a new part.

Can you post the most recent log file from %AppData%\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Updater Logs
if the log file is too big, just post the last hundred lines
Usually these errors are related to your USB ports or an incorrectly installed Apple Mobile Device driver.
Try a USB hub, a different computer and properly removing and reinstalling iTunes Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

It could be a hardware problem but I doubt it... Apple will help if it is still under warranty and they don't wise up to the fact it was jailbroken. They have been known to be difficult if you never activated your contract with the original carrier. Especially AT&T

%appdata% is a shortcut to what is usually c:\documents and settings\youruserid\Application Data\
If you hold down the windows key and press r then paste the path I quoted into the box that comes up and click OK/run Explorer should open up the correct folder containing the log files.

Maybe I gave the wrong location earlier. I am not in front of a windows machine today so I am basing this on the location under OS X and some googling. Try this location instead.
%AppData%\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Updater Logs
