Help!!!!
First of all, thanx in advance for anyone who replies to this post, I’ve searched around before creating this thread and have found several “fixes” but in reality non work, at least for me.
I have a Black 3G iPhone 16gig running on 3.1.2, I did an unlock and jailbreak with Blackra1n and Blacksn0w, everything went apparently fine.
When I insert a SIM card of any carrier it reads searching, then shows “no service” and after about 5 mins it shows the carrier name but no bars, not even one bar.
If I go into settings it shows the carrier name, so I believe the unlock worked fine.
I’ve tried everything, from doing a network reset on airplane mode, inserting different SIM’s even from my other iPhone’s that work fine, soft reset, disabling 3G (even though the carrier supports 3G), and finally restoring the phone about 4 times. Nothing works, I keep getting the same issue over and over again.
I am certain other users are experiencing similar if not the same issue,

Now to give all you guys a bit of background, I’ve been familiar with all the jailbreak and unlock soft. out there. I currently own a White iPhone 3GS running on 3.1.2 from AT&T, I successfully jailbreak and unlocked it using Blackra1n and Blacksn0w, I created and added a command to enable tethering to use it with Colombian carrier TIGO, everything works like a charm. Also, I have a 2G iPhone 8gig from AT&T running on 3.1.2 Jailbroken and unlocked using Blackra1n, Blacksn0w and Bootneuter, I use this one with Colombian carrier COMCEL 3GSM.

Seems like to me you have a faulty iPhone. You may want to take it to the Apple store and get it checked out. (Make sure you restore the phone to the original factory state)

Usually disabling 3G under settings works for unlocked non-ATT sim cards or Restoring it the second time.

I don't believe it's faulty because before unlocking it, it was working fine with the original carrier.
I'll try doing a restore again, if anyone has any other idea please let me know.

Have you tried to downgrade the baseband using fuzzyband?
Based on the troubleshooting you have done already, I would concur that it is likely a hardware problem.

Blacksn0w has nothing to do with unlocking on 2G iPhones. I guess you know this and it was just a typo.

If fuzzyband does not support your iPhone. One other thing I forgot to ask earlier. Do you get any iTunes error codes during a restore?

fuzzyband does not work, this 3g has 5.9 bootloader. Fuzzyband is for 5.8
I am restoring again for the 1000 time.
No I don't get any error in iTunes. When I do a restore I use the original carrier SIM, however, now even with that one I get "no service" and the "waiting for activation" window does not go away.
What is up with this phone?!?!?!
I am pretty sure I am doing everything right, I am posting this message via my iPhone 3gs factory locked from AT&T, unlocked and jailbroken with blackweather, using it with Colombian carrier TIGO. Full bars, full 3.5g data.

ok... so I did a little research, I called an authorized iphone dealer here in Colombia. What they tell me is that probably the iphone is in the wrong frequency.... I have never messed with that, nor even know where to change it's frequency....any ideas?

I doubt that... the 3GS adds only the 7.2Mbps HSDPA downlink capability, otherwise it is pretty much the same as the 3G in terms of radio capabilities.
