Default Locked out on 3GS in 3.1.2

I'm password locked out of my iphone 3gs which I stopped using during the 3.1.2 era (I know it's not that long ago)

Either way, is there a way to still jailbreak this iphone?

It is 3.1.2 and it's the correct baseband, only problem is it is password locked, and since apple isn't digitally signing 3.1.2 anymore and I use tmobile I don't want to upgrade to 3.1.3 for obvious reasons.

    Thanks in advance

well yea that would be the concept I'm trying to relay here... I remembered it eventually but I didn't know that too many wrong tries does this to an I-Phone.

I'm getting the impression that people have an issue with other people forgetting their password.

As if such a thing is impossible and thus my iphone MUST be stolen.

Maybe jumping the gun here, but this has to be like the 6th forum / post about this issue and NO ONE answers, except with obvious posts like

    1) You forgot your password.

-Well yea, that's the my whole point, I wasn't clear?

    2) You stole it so no help for you.

-So forgetting my password means I stole it now?

    3) No one ever forgets their password.

-News to me, so it's impossible for one to decide to switch carriers to tmobile with no intention of using an iphone again, trying to sell the iphone to find the prices for what I'd get are crap compared to what I paid, then finding out later tmobile can be hacked onto an iphone so I might as well go back, boot up the iphone months later to realize I can't recall the password correctly, insert password incorrectly too many times and being locked out without foreknowledge of this happening.

I hope this has answered the most probable subsequent questions I have yet to receive.

    Thanks in advance.

You never answered the three questions I asked in the other thread.

Also I had two more. Did you turn on the erase all data after 10 failed attempts option? Or was the passcode enforced by the exchange mail server you were connecting to?

BTW, other 3 questions that Olethros asked you in the other thread are:

If your question is regards to being locked out. This depends on three factors

    1. have you tried so many times that like the original poster you are told that you can't try anymore
    2. are you currently jailbroken ? if you jailbroke with blackra1n did you install afc2add.
    3. old bootrom or new?
and two more to make it five questions:
    4. Did you turn on the erase all data after 10 failed attempts option?
    5. Or was the passcode enforced by the exchange mail server you were connecting to?

    1. have you tried so many times that like the original poster you are told that you can't try anymore

    Yes

    2. are you currently jailbroken ? if you jailbroke with blackra1n did you install afc2add.

No, I said in my previous post that I REALIZED I could jailbreak after switching ... so by deduction... nevermind. No it is not jailbroken.

    3. old bootrom or new?

Don't know what that is. Do you mean the firmware and baseband? 3.1.2 and the baseband associated with that.

    4. Did you turn on the erase all data after 10 failed attempts option?

I didn't know that option existed so I'm assuming no. Either way I could care less about the data at this point.

    5. Or was the passcode enforced by the exchange mail server you were connecting to?

No idea what that means. I inserted in what I thought was my passcode and it was not, now I am locked out of my iphone.

    Yes
This is quite a deliberate process, after a few attempts you are forced to wait 1 minute, then 5 minutes before trying again.

What are the first 5 digits of your serial number? Have you had your 3GS replaced / repaired under warranty at all?

The bootrom was updated in iPhones sold after late September. The new bootrom can only support a tethered jailbreak (each time you restart the phone you need to re-run the jailbreak program before the phone will boot)

If you used Microsoft Exchange / Outlook email on your phone, the company that provides this email (usually a company you work for) can set policies that your phone must obey. One of which is that you must use a pin code, another is that if the pin code is forgotten x times, the phone can be wiped.

    Okay.. here is the summary/plan..

You don't care about existing data.
Phone can be jailbroken (maybe only tethered)

    Plan (old bootrom)
    Jailbreak with redsn0w
Restore custom 3.1.2 IPSW - no hacktivation.
    Let iTunes activate
Restore/resync data from iTunes if you have it
    can use iPhone again.

    Plan (new bootrom)
Jailbreak with redsn0w (select late model option)
Use iFuntastic to copy in some Cydia packages. Use the autoinstall at reboot option
Reboot (use blackra1n or redsn0w to kickstart boot)
Use iFuntastic to copy a script that runs at next startup.
Reboot (use blackra1n or redsn0w to kickstart boot)
Script removes pinlock and if necessary forces a reactivation.
    let iTunes activate
    can use iPhone again.

The new bootrom approach needs more testing before that can be used but should in principle work.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I haven't even tried your suggestions yet, but the fact of at least GETTING a suggestion is a sigh of relief for me!

Ok so on to your questions:

"This is quite a deliberate process, after a few attempts you are forced to wait 1 minute, then 5 minutes before trying again."

Yes I know, I kind of felt it as a game at the time. I didn't think it could go on forever doing that.

"What are the first 5 digits of your serial number?"

The numbers on the back of the phone are as follows

    Model No.:A1303 FCC ID:BCGA1303B IC ID: 579C-A1303B

I don't know what any of these numbers mean or even if they are the ones you need... please let me know.

" Have you had your 3GS replaced / repaired under warranty at all?"

I have not used the warranty. Even though I am still pretty non-iphone-suave I refused the I-Phone repair because I knew they'd upgrade my phone to 3.1.3 And I realized that this was not a hackable model for my t-mobile service.

I'm assuming my choice of plan is dependent on the answers I gave you above?

Please advise and I'll proceed... as I haven't seen this issue in forums ANYWHERE I'm willing to test/ break/ ruin my Iphone for the sake of science.

    Thanks for your reply

None of the numbers you have given me are the first 5 digits of the serial number. This will have a 3rd digit of 9 or 0. This value plus the 4th and 5th digit give an indication to if you have old or new bootrom.

Did you purchase your 3GS before October 2009?

Can also identify the bootrom by putting your 3GS in DFU mode and checking the reported iBoot version
