Iphone 3gs model A1303 - stuck with Itunes logo & a USB on top - please help to fix i
Hi, I would greatly appreciate your help in getting my iphone restored and back in good health.
Iphone 3gs - 8GB model A1303
using: Mac OS X 10.5.8
Knowledge about iphones: beginner
Problem: I did not knew the status of my iphone 3gs (but remember cyndia being somewhere there). I thought it was all original so went to itunes and live upgraded it. Result wasn't all that good - as it got stuck. All I see now is Itunes logo and a usb wire on it.
After this I have tried running blackra1n, Tiny Umberella but I had no clue what I was doing.
Request: Kindly help me to do a fresh installation with details of what to install, what and where to download and steps.

This is because you have upgraded the phone to the 06.15.00 iPad baseband. This can not be un-done and when you upgrade in the future, you must obey specific steps, outlined here:
http://www.hackint0sh.org/f204/196391.htm
This was detailed in the documentation you (should have) read during the upgrade. You can't downgrade your baseband and any time you upgrade in the future, you will need to complete these steps.
The preceding forum post has been brought to you by the letter "N" and the number 42.

Hi! Thank you for the reply.
OK - as I mentioned I am very new to iphones. So here is what I did.
Downloaded the following
----------------------------
a. PwnageTool 4.1.3
b. iPhone2,1_4.1_8B117_Restore.ipsw
c. iPhone2,1_4.2.1_8C148a_Restore.ipsw
Performed the following steps (as in http://www.hackint0sh.org/f204/196391-3.htm#post705757 which refereed to iClarified - iPhone - How to Jailbreak and Unlock Your iPhone 3GS Using PwnageTool (Mac) [4.1]. (so I downloaded the required files following this)
Now you said: be sure to browse for this 4.2.1(ipsw) in step 5 while creating custom restore in Pwnage.
Problem 1 & Question 1: PwnageTool does not recognize the 4.2.1(ipsw).
Problem 2 & Question 2: the iclarified guide says do not follow if iphone has old bootrom (how to figure this out?).
This is what I did: I tried creating the custom-restore in Pwnage using iPhone2,1_4.1_8B117_Restore.ipsw.
with following setting:
- no for iPad IPSW or the iPad baseband.
- unticked "activate iPhone",
- skipped installing OpenSSH.
Then, opened iTunes and tried to restore manually (by pressing alt+restore and selecting the custom-restore file.
but to no success...... Afterwards I also retried with low internet connectivity with no success.

Problem 3 & Question 3: Still no success - can you please share exact steps of what I need to do now?
Problem 4 & Question 4: I need to do it without internet. Following your thread (http://www.hackint0sh.org/f204/76301.htm#post691232) you ask if I have pwnagetool - so yes I do but what next?
Question 5: Please also share how do with internet also.
Your help is appreciated! Waiting to hear from you.
