I'm working on one of my friends Iphone 3GS (old bootrom) was jailbroken to 3.0 and was trying to upgrdae it to 3.1.2. Problem is I can not get itunes to complete the firmware install. I've actually been able to install blackra1n. Problem is the phone can not get service, the wifi and bluetooth are greyed out, no IMEI, no ICCID and no Modem Firware show up in the about section. I know when they originally jailbroke the phone they did not store the SHSH file. Would that be the problem and if so is there any way around it? I'm confused because I used the same firmware on my iPhone and had no problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Apple aint signing 3.1.2 anymore nga, u dont read on these forums and keep posting same repetitive questions? wtf, do searches or look through the forums for your answer, chances are, its already been answered you goof LMAO

Yeah I know Apple isn't signing 3.1.2... which is why I altered my host files to redirect it to Saurik's source. I even tried using umbrella to upload the the ECID onto Sauirk's source and on a local host but neither worked.

Correct. If you did not manually store your SHSH on file by hitting the "Make My Life Easier" button in Cydia or grab it using the Firmware Umbrella, you are out of luck -- you will not have one on file and cannot downgrade to anything that Apple is not signing.

Make sure you get your 4.0 SHSH so that you don't find yourself in this position again later!

Thanks... so in the mean time should I just upgrade the phone to 4.0? Right now it's pretty useless.
