The Blackra1n Recovry mode loop Help!
I now know that my iphone has a tethered jailbreak meaning i have to run blacksn0w everytime i turn my iphone off. I find this really annoying that I need my laptop to turn my phone on. I am just wondering if I were to upgrade on itunes to 3.1.3 would this resolve the recovery mode loop?
I also understand that my iphone wouldnt be jailbroken if i were to do this, well at least until a new exploit is found!
Please advise.
Thanks people.

Technically, yes - upgrading to 3.1.3 would "fix" your tethered jailbreak. I would advise strongly against this approach. Yes you lose jailbreak possibility until a new exploit is publicly revealed. This won't happen till July I think.
Plus you upgrade your baseband.. which is a one way process, no way to EVER reverse that.
If you want to remove your jailbreak, and you have a backed up ECID SHSH for OS 3.1.2 or lower, I would recommend you use that and this guide iClarified - iPhone - How to Downgrade Your iPhone 3GS Using a Cydia Saved SHSH [Windows]
That way you get your iPhone back to normal and you can jailbreak again if you change your mind.

On my cydia its says its This device a pending TSS request, I only clicked the link on cydia on thursday, (i take that this is how i get the SHSH thing?)
Also the baseband update does this just stop you from unlocking your phone?
Thanks for the help its really appreciated

You are too late for OS 3.1.2 SHSH read http://www.hackint0sh.org/f203/109567.htm
One thing I wish more people understood was that you do NOT need to jailbreak to backup your SHSH for a specific OS version. yes Cydia makes it easy. If you *ever* thought that you *might* want to jailbreak you should have backed up SHSH for 3.1.2.
Baseband update blocks unlock, yes reports are this baseband update does very little else than that. Sometimes baseband updates can improve reception, battery life, data speed (or even fix the wifi problems some users - even those who never jailbroke - are experiencing)

So am I correct in thinking that my only option to stop the recovery loop now, is to update to 3.1.3, and that I cannot restore to an earlier version as I dont have SHSH?
