Any way around the tethered version of the jailbreak? (week48)

I have a week 48 phone and for some reason my powerbook g4 PPC wont reboot my phone after it turns off with black rain.

I did the original jailbreak on my cousins PC running XP and after plug in, it works fine.

Is there a plan to get the un-tethered version soon? Or has someone found a way around it?

No one has anything to report on that at the moment.

It may never arrive or it may take months

I dont care if I have cydia or all that crap. I just want to unlock the phone so i can use other sim cards.

any way of doing that?

I don't think you understand.. To load the software unlock you need to be jailbroken. The iPhone by default does not allow applications enough system rights to do the things that the unlock needs to do.

Your phone only supports a tethered jailbreak at the moment.
