3GS bricked
Hi All,
I have a 3 GS which was running fine on 4.2.1 with ipad baseband. 2 weeks ago I tried to upgrade to 4.3.1 and it looks like the device is bricked. The screen remains blank and all restore options using itunes, custom firmware, tiny umbrella, redsn0w, etc.. failed to restore the device.
I dont have SHSH saved, so Tinyumbrella was not of much help.
Is there any way to restore my iphone to any version (4.2.x or 4.3.x) and make the iphone usable. Please help me here.
Thanks,
Kris

If you have previously used tiny umbrella, launch it again and go to the advanced tab, untick the "set hosts to cydia on exit", click apply and close Tiny Umbrella again.
Then restore to 4.3.3 (I would suggest you use pwnagetool to make a custom firmware)

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try this method and update with the outcome. Earlier I tried to restore using custom firmwares of 4.3.3 but the restore failed. This time I will try to make a custom firmware and do the process again.
I hope its really possible to restore the phone without having the SHSHS.
Many thanks

Make sure your iPhone is in pwned DFU mode before restoring the custom IPSW. (pwnagetool has a guide to help you get into this mode)

In general, this is NOT possible. (with the exception of the iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G, old bootrom 3GS can also be tricked into restoring a specially constructed custom IPSW without SHSH but this is generally not a good idea past iOS 4.1)
