4.xx has soft SHSH checks, so if you don't have an SHSH for your device you'll need to ensure you are properly pwned beforehand -- how did you jailbreak 3.0? If you used PwnageTool or redsn0w you should be fine to upgrade to 4.0 or 4.1 (custom bundle created from PwnageTool, of course). Dev-team's official guidance is:

• If you have a Jailbroken iPhone 3G at 3.1.2 (but not jailbroken with Spirit) then you should create the ipsw with PwnageTool 4.0 and restore from recovery mode or DFU mode.
• If you have an out of the box iPhone 3G you should restore using a PwnageTool 4.0 ipsw using DFU mode.

So, that will really dictate which of the two routes you go. I recommend against 4.2.1 right now until they get the untether situation sorted out and until the software running on 4.2.1 stabilizes.

Firmware : 3.0 (7A341)

Base band : 04.26.08

I do not MAC

I have only windows what is your adivice?

Find a friend with a mac that you can borrow for an hour.
If you don't know anyone nearby - then it is enough for someone to make the custom IPSW and send it to you. You need to first jailbreak your current iOS 3.0 with redsn0w 0.9.2

The 3G jailbreak is untethered (the good type of jailbreak) on 4.2.1

Well TinyUmbrella can be useful to find out if you have a 4.1 SHSH. You should also use TinyUmbrella to save a 4.2.1 SHSH as Apple will eventually stop signing 4.2.1

Unfortunately I am not able to get MAC from friend so i can not use PwnageTool now.

Also not possible to custom IPSW for 4.0/4.1/4.2.1 from PwnageTool now.

So I can proceed with Jial break IOS 3.0 with with redsn0w 0.9.2 (no update for Baseband)

Unlock the iPhone 3G ( IOS 3.0) Using UltraSn0w (no update for Baseband)

Yes you can do that (redsn0w and ultrasn0w)


Another option is that you set up a virtual machine and install hackint0sh osx into the virtual machine. Then you don't need to find a friend with a mac
