Heres a quick "work-around" solution for all those who have used Blackra1n to JB their 3gs and found out they can't use wifi anymore. Theres plenty of free wifi apps in appstore, one i use to is wififofum.

Most people seem to have been able to get wifi back by ditching blacksn0w for ultrasn0w.

If that is not enough, a reset network settings followed by a reload of the baseband seems to bring wifi back.

Last week I was trying to figure out a way to disable the unlock temorarily so I could boot up the phone. Comex helped me create a special version of redsn0w that doesn't actually run the jailbreak but simply runs a delete command to get rid of /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist. This way CommCenter doesn't start and therefore blacksn0w doesn't load with it. Once I booted up the phone successfully I immediately removed blacksn0w and installed RC2. Make sure you have a virgin (and running) CommCenter before installing RC2. What i mean by this is that it should tell you there is no SIM when you take your SIM out, and tell you it is an invalid SIM when you pop it back in. If CommCenter isn't running properly try this command:

    launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

Also make sure the old blacksn0w.dylib is deleted from /usr/lib before you install RC2.

    Here is the modified redsn0w:

    redsn0w-mac_0.9.4-modified.zip

Simply run through the normal jailbreak process and make sure to select "Install Cydia" - NOT "just boot tethered right now". No, this will not install Cydia again, since the code should only run the delete command. You will see the "downloading jailbreak data" screen and then it will reboot (hopefully) to the home screen! Good luck
is there anything like this for windows? I guess it is my last hope....

my 3gs 3.1.2 wont boot anymore: apple logo, spinning wheel, reboot (endless cycle )
i've been trying to let the battery run out but as soon as the phone starts again nothing happens: blackra1n keeps waiting for the device (and itunes is running)

i'm only able to run blackra1n if I go into recovery mode: gehot pic appears for several seconds, then I get the spinning wheel, it reboots and then... back to where I started again

    any suggestion please??

Look at modmyi forums, there was a series of posts there related to custom redsn0w versions that fixed or disabled common causes of bootloops. There were windows and osx versions.

The windows version is a bit harder to hack but it should be possible to make a windows version of this modified redsn0w - all you need is a hex editor and a bit of time.

mmm thanks you for your answer but I couldn't find any custom redsn0w
btw I do not get the "leave battery run dry" part: with a low charge battery it looks like blackr4in can't complete the process, as the screen goes back to the low battery screen after a while... why do we need a low charge battery? and how could I recharge it as the usb cable doesn't do his job? wall charger?

i've been reading this thread and others. i think i'm SOL with my iphone reboot loop. i got a hand-me-down 1st gen iphone from a coworker. home button doesn't work and neither pc nor mac will detect the device. won't charge with usb cable, but will with a firewire one.

anyway, i've been playing with it for a couple weeks now and got it to jailbreak and install a virtual home button a couple days ago. (yay, one problem solved!) then decided to push it a bit further and unlock the phone with blacksn0w so i could use it on a different carrier. now it's just doing the infinite loop.

it's a pretty long shot, but i just want to know if this is a lost cause at this point given the circumstances listed above. (was finally beating one of my friends in words with friends too...) thanks in advance.

If you had researched this - blacksn0w does not work on a 2G (1st generation iPhone)

Get the home button fixed - you are stuck without that.
