    Can you provide some details?

    1. What OS are you running Mac or Windows?
    2. What iPhone OS is the iPhone running currently?

    Some concepts to understand.

    1. Blackra1n only works on OS 3.1.2 and 3.1, it works best on a freshly restored iPhone OS, keeping on running blackra1n to attempt the jailbreak over and over again will likely not work.
    2. Pwnagetool/Custom firmware works best to install on an already jailbroken iPhone. If you run Mac OS X, you can jailbreak a 3GS directly with pwnagetool but only to OS 3.1.2 and only if you don't have the updated bootrom. So in practice it is better to start your jailbreak process with either redsn0w or blackra1n.
    3. Due to the way Apple has locked down the restore process on the 3GS, if you have not already backed up your ECID SHSH as of today you can only restore your 3GS to OS 3.1.2 even if it originally came with OS 3.0 or 3.1 or whatever.

    Starting points:

    1. Follow the procedure outlined in this post to get your bootrom version and ECID PwnageTool 3.1.4 for Mac OS X
    2. I would suggest that you restore your iPhone in DFU mode to get it back to a known OK state so you can begin with jailbreaking http://www.hackint0sh.org/f137/54082.htm

Jailbreak through itunes using custom firmware. Cydia will be installed this way. Once in cydia click Manage, Sources,Edit,Add then in box it should be
    url for blackra1n
From here you can install blacksn0w to unlock

Did you actually read the original post? It says they could not load a custom firmware via iTunes (most likely because they are on windows and have not previously jailbroken using blackra1n)

    hi
yes, the problem which i have is not unlocking the phone... i canīt jailbreak it.

i dont work with windows i have a mac (OS 10.4.11).
I dont know why i cant jailbreak the iphone...

The iphone works only with the original 3.1.2 fw. i cant install the custom fw

if i want to do this the phone show me the itunes logo to connect it to itunes an the only way i can go to use the phone is that i install the original 3.1.2 fw.

when i want to take the phone into the dfu-mode then it dont work since i install the original fw.

    perhapst you have an idea?
