Upgrade from iPhone OS 3.1.2 to OS 4 with blackra1n jailbreak

Blacksn0w has been demonstrated to eventually send your iPhone into a restore loop. Ultrasn0w has a lot fewer reports of problems. However - I have seen a few reports of problems with the latest version of ultrasn0w. No real pattern has emerged yet.

Advice for unlockers is always to avoid upgrading your baseband if possible. Use pwnagetool or the last ditch restore method (if you have SHSH cached)

I followed exactly the iClarified tutorial, jailbreak with RedSn0w and unlock with Ultrasn0w. My iPhone is jailbroken and making calls, but I don't have neither 3G nor Edge. What can I do to solve this problem?

Ok here's my sad situation.

I had a perfectly working

Phone: 3Gs
Jailbreak: blackra1n
Version: 3.1.2
Model: MC135LL
Modem Firmware: 05.11.07

I had a new backup of my I phone. And then I hit restore thinking it would take be back to before I had blackra1n. Instead my phone did a lot of updating and upgrading and now wont work. I have the screen that shows iTunes connected to a USB cable. But, when I go to blackra1n it now longer unlocks my phone. Oh and there's a tiny lock on my screen. iTunes no longer shows my phone stating it doesn't recognize the carrier.

Is there a way out? or am I stuck:fail:fail

You most likely have accidentally updated to iOS 4.0.1 - if you did not save your 3.1.2 SHSH then your only way out now is to use jailbreakme.com (you need to activate first) there are plenty of threads about jailbreakme and ways to activate if you don't have the original SIM.

If you read the thread you have hijacked, it makes it clear there is no way to use blackra1n past iOS 3.1.2 and that any attempt to update to iOS 4.0 must be planned and researched properly.
