Unlocked my 3GS but need help!

Hey all,

Unlocked my 3GS 32GB but seems that i have a problem, i have inserted my tmobile simcard and it picks up signal, i can use 3G internet no problem but when it comes to sending/receiving calls and texts it just wont do it, if i try to call someone it says call ended straight away and texts just wont send...

When i try to ring the number from another phone it says "calls are not currently being connected to this number", but when i put the sim in another phone it works finee...

I did think that maybe the phone might have been blocked, but if it was blocked the tmobile 3G internet shouldnt work right? as i said it connects to tmobile and i receive signal and 3g internet just not calls or texts...

Any settings that may need to be tampered with?

Am assuming t-mobile in the UK because 3G is not supported with t-mobile in the USA.

Which unlock did you use?

do you have a little thin looking piece that you put under your sim card? It looks like a very thin clear sim card, I know cydia uses them, I'm
not sure about any other jb programs. But it goes with your tmobile sim card. That might cause the problem. My friend had the same trouble and I just messed around with the sim card, seemed to work fine after. Might just be a bad connection.

Yes im on T-Mobile UK which has 3G.

Nope dont have a thin piece under the simcard, are you on about one of them unlocking sims which go under your simcard? im not using one of them i have unlocked the phone using blackra1n (blacksn0w)...

As i said i dont think that the phone is blocked because when trying to make a call i dont get the "call failed" message i just get the "call ended" message straight away but the T-Mobile 3G internet works and im guessing if the phone was blocked i wouldnt even be able to receive the T-Mobile 3G Internet right?

Any ideas im stumped?

im also having the same problem with my iPhone 32GB 3GS when trying to use it on Orange UK, shows no service then after a while shows the carrier but no signal at all, though twice it did pick up signal and the phone worked fine, only for a short amount of time until it lost signal but still showed the carrier, any idea whats causing that?

With my T-Mobile UK simcard it shows the carrier and always has signal and the T-Mobile 3G internet works perfectly, but when it comes to sending/receving calls or texts it just wont do it...

That phone is IMEI blacklisted.

But with the Orange one it says no network operator logo will appear, but the operator logo does appear but just doesnt pick up signal, though it has picked up signal and worked perfectly once or twice but always loses it...

Also when with tmobile it gets a signal as i said, and it even receives tmobile 3g internet (UK), if the phone was blacklisted im guessing it should not receive the tmobile 3g internet correct? because it does...

This sounds normal also. The appearance of operator logo varies with different mobile manufacturers. The way the carrier implements the IMEI blacklist can mean that you might get registered on the network for a short period before the blacklist is checked and you are kicked off.

I have read other sites that indicate getting 3G internet access is normal for IMEI blacklisted mobiles on t-mobile.

You can go and spend a few quid to confirm this (for some reason, there is nowhere that offers a free IMEI blacklisting check in the UK). I am 99% sure this is the case.

In the UK, if buying a second hand phone I would recommend you always ask that the seller provide verification that it is not IMEI blacklisted.

Did you guys try to reset the network settings after it had been jailbroken and unlocked?
