Unable to send/receive MMS

I am not sure when this problem started but i have been been able to send/receive MMS since i updated my iPhone to 3.1.3 (using Pwnage tool 3.1.5). My iPhone was jailbroken and unlocked using Blackra1n on 3.1.2 prior to updating to 3.1.3. Initially, i thought this may be an artifact of using Pwnage tool so i downgraded my iPhone to 3.1.2, jailbroke and unlocked again using Blackra1n. After the downgrade i still cannot send/receive MMS. I have no problem sending/receiving SMS. Since i am on AT&T, i cannot see the Cellular data network setting. In order to see that setting, i replaced with a non-AT&T SIM and the APN for SMS and MMS are both wap.cingular. All other fields are blank. iPhone is on carrier profile AT&T 5.6. Can anyone think of a reason why i am unable to send/receive MMS?

Did you install any of the mobileconfigs on your device for MMS or tethering previously? After 3.0 they became unnecessary and some can stop MMS/SMS from working at all. You can check by going to Settings -> General -> Profile and reviewing the carrier profile information there. Removing it should not cause any problems and may fix your issue, but read it first!

I installed a mobileconfig from benm.at in order to get Tethering option to show up. Removing it did not fix the issue though.

Did you do a device reboot afterwards? I don't believe it's ultimately necessary but just for giggles I'd give it a shot.

WRT tethering, you can now just install a tethering pack from Cydia that takes care of it and does so in a much 'better' manner -- I can't remember it's name, but it's what I ended up using as it was easier than mucking about with the mobileconfigs.

This problem is usually related to previously installed MMS mobileconfigs that cause problems with updated carrier profiles. Did you ever install a non-standard .IPCC file to your device when that was one of the preferred methods of hacking around the tethering restrictions? If so, you'll want to get the latest Apple/AT&T .ipcc and reapply using those methods or force a carrier update through iTunes.

problem solved!

Thanks for your help. Problem was actually not my iPhone but with AT&T. Apparently, they somehow had the original iPhone as my profile in their system. After they switched that to the iPhone 3GS profile, i was able to send/receive MMS.
