The pwnagetool has not been verified to work for iBoot-359.3.2 model iPhones and iPod touches. I don't know for sure if it does not work.

For older iPhone and iPod models, it is possible to jailbreak with blackra1n and then restore with a custom ipsw created with pwnagetool. This is useful on windows if you want to stay on the pwnage train (or use the more robust hacktivation in pwnagetool)

    Hi there,
I have tried to use the pwnage tool on my 3GS with new bootrom and I can confirm that it did not work for me.
After running, my iPhone just sat there with a blank screen and I had to restore.

At the moment the best bet is to use Blackra1n. Only downside is that everytime the phone boots, you will need to hook it up to your computer and run Blackra1n to kick it out of restore mode.

    Cheers
    Kev

This is unacceptable........... I just got one of these 3.1.2 OTB 3GS iBoot 359.3.2 phones... Same results as mentioned here... Pwnagetool and custom ipsw is useless... blackra1n twice gets it to springboard, but if it restarts, you're dead... you have to rerun blackrain.

Is there nothing we can run on the iphone to "make" it come back to life on a restart? WITHOUT tethering it to the usb and running BR again?

Not unless you are geohot, chronicdevteam or the iPhone Dev Team. I am sure they are all looking through the bootrom in their spare time trying to find another hole to allow an untethered jailbreak. They will probably find a hole eventually, but I doubt it will happen this year.

Maybe, but Confuscious also said that 05.11 would probably never be unlocked either because of the new iboot.... claimed no one important was working on it

Right I think i've got this situation too. Who knows!

I have sucessfully jailbroken my iPhone using Blackra1n on Windows.

The missus has now got an iPhone, same one, same setup etc. We both have a 3GS 16GB. I've tried to jailbreak hers using Blackra1n on windows first and mac second. I've also used pwnage on mac but..........

When I successfully jailbreak I can install apps etc but if I switch the phone off and on again I have to connect it to iTunes and it says that it has detected a phone in recovery mode!

If booting it using blackra1n is the only way, will she still be able to keep her contacts, messages etc?

    Cheers

Yes, of course, just don't panic and keep on running blackra1n every time the iPhone boots. Hopefully another untethered jailbreak will be discovered.
