I jailbroke a 3G iPhone on FW3.1.2 and a 3GS also on FW3.1.2

first time I ran blackra1n it did not work, and my iPhone was left in Connect to iTunes mode.

I held power and home until the iPhone turned off. Powered up and ran blackra1n again. It worked the 2nd time on the 3GS. It took 3 tries on the 3G.

if this happens to you, that you end up in Connect to iTunes mode, you do NOT need to restore firmware etc, just hold power and Home at the same time until the phone turns off

I could not get Pwnage 3.14 to work at all--tried it 5 times. Blackra1n was much faster and much more simple and I was easily able to install Cydia and Rock. Highly recommended!

well people, it has worked for some and made some worked up and furious about their iphones/ipods ,

if your one of the lucky people that actually had a successful jailbreak congratz! and consider yourselfs pretty damn lucky!

if not, ( in my case)

ive tried on a MAC with Leopard OSX and a PC running Windows 7 X64 with itunes 9.1 X64


and same thing happens i get stuck on that awful itunes logo with the usb cable

so if theres any1 that could help us .... well that would be just dandy !!!

I used blackra1n to jailbreak my ipod touch and it worked perfectly and its so easy.
I first upgraded to 3.1.2 using itunes, then started blackra1n and it was done.

this is how I did it...

1. blackra1n on desktop
2. close all apple and itunes related app thru Task Manager
3. phone on and on home screen
4. blackra1n set run in Vista SP2 mode under Compatibility (I'm running Win7 64-bit)
5. connect iphone to computer
6. Start blackra1n, and "Make it rain"

* I then got stuck in Recovery Mode on the iPhone 3G 16GB (legit update to 3.1.2 thru iTunes prior to blackra1n) and blackra1n stuck at "running..."

7. If stuck in Recovery Mode/running, reboot by holding power and home button for 10sec or until screen flash off.

8. Turn on iPhone again, retry blackra1n.

* I had to do this more than 10 times...have faith in the tutorial that states blackra1n is buggy and MAY take multiple tries...

After about 10 times, it took and geohot's face/logo comes up on iPhone's screen...follow the rest and be done.

after numerous trials .... i can say it works .... non of the solutions out there helped ... the only solution is persistence ... try it again and again until u c a frodo looking guy on ur phone and u can enjoy cydia icy or rock.... so get going and try it again and again ! good luck
