This guide is intended for people who have had problems with the blackra1n/limera1n method of hacktivation.

For example you are on a legitimate contract but you ran blackra1n to jailbreak while the iPhone still displayed the "slide for emergency" screen
Or if you have an iPhone 4 and find that facetime support no longer works after using limera1n's hacktivation.

This can be useful if you want to fix push notifications or you want to use the push donor script. See http://www.cmdshft.ipwn.me/blog/?p=496 for details on this.

The guide does not require a restart of the iPhone (so minimal risk for those with tethered jailbreaks) and can be reversed if necessary.

NOTE: remove any passcode set on your iPhone (not SIM passcode - they are OK) before attempting this procedure. Otherwise you may need to restore (or revert the changes)

The iPhone should be connected to your computer and iTunes must be running.
Install Erica's Utilities and SSH from Cydia (or MobileTerminal or iSSH connecting to 127.0.0.1)
Login as root:

Run the following commands

rm -r /var/root/Library/Lockdown
launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mobile.lockdown.plist && launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mobile.lockdown.plist

To reverse this (if you want to go back to hacktivation):

i removed hacktivate.dylib and rebooted and now i am stuck at apple logo boot screen. Any ideas ? Thanks

Did my instructions say to do ANY of that?

What model iPhone do you have? There is a custom app based on redsn0w that can disable CommCenter so you can fix your problem.

Thanks for your reply, currently on 3g with 5.12.01 baseband. I have ultrasn0w .93 installed but get no service or searching also unable to load carrier list from carrier options screen. I do have 3g turned off for tmobile.

So you have sorted out your bootloop problem (by restoring to 3.1.3 - not ideal but not a bad solution to your existing problem either).

Don't threadjack. The problem you have now described has NOTHING to do with the existing thread. Search - there are other threads that relate to your problem. Post there.

Thanks for the info, however I did this and nothing happened. So I choose 'clear all settings' under general, and it rebooted to a 'slide for emergency call' screen.

Awesome I thought. So I connected to itunes like it asked, then it activated the phone and made it's first sync.

I tested push out with a variety of applications and it still doesn't work. any ideas?

I'm jailbroken with limera1n on 4.0 (greenpoins0n wouldn't actually jailbreak it) and I don't have my shsh blobs saved from 4.0 since it was recent. Just for 4.1

Obviously I'd like to keep my phone's ability to be unlocked.

Did any of the lines return an error message? Are you sure you installed plutil correctly?

what model phone do you have 3GS or iPhone 4?

Seems like each time I do this it deactivates me, but as soon as i connect to itunes it reactives me and push still refuses to work
