Default [3Gs] How to kick off out of restore mode?

A friend of mine has a 3Gs (A1303) iphone and it was unlocked and jailbreaked but after doing a factory reset (as he told me and probably somthing else he was doing) iPhone shows restore mode. I tried blackra1n and imediatley "the boy" showed up (blackra1n logo). Ant it said "done, wait for reboot". After about 10 mins phone start reboot but again went back to the same restore mode. I tried this a few times but everytime the same restore mode came up. How should I kick it out of restore mode and get the phone working?

I tried old home/slepp holding method but didn't work either.

but I have seen people talking about iRecovery. Seems problem should be solved with it. After a half day googling found two version of iRecovery but one is under dos and the other one says installation problem and couldn't make it work. Anyone know where to find working windows version of iRecovery?

iRecovery can help a lot with some recovery mode issues, but if a factory reset (erase all content and settings) has been performed. You need to restore the OS.

Is this a new or old bootrom 3GS? The serial number can give a clue, or you can see PwnageTool 3.1.4 for Mac OS X to find this out.

phone is on loop restore/recovery mode and I couldn't kick it out and couldn't get into DFU mode. With as it is using above procedure this is what I found in USB detailes section:

    USB\VID_05AC&PID_1281\CPID:8920_CPRV:15_CPFM:03_SC EP:03_BDID:00_ECID:00000218FA10DD8F_IBFL:01_SRNM:[85948B3H3NR]_IMEI:[012028006488867]

Also I can see following from phone back cover:

    Model NO: A1303
    FCC ID: BCGA1303A
    IC ID: 579C-A1303A

Before reset it was working and firmware was 3.1.2

Do you think now iRecovery can help or should I restore 3.1.2 with itunes and then use blackra1n for jailbreaking and unlocking? Will restoring OS and jailbreaking and unlocking with blackra1n work?

But wait. WOW using iRecovery in dos mode I can see iBoot-636.66
    can this help?

No the iBoot version reported by iRecovery in that field is the recovery mode iBoot version.

The bootrom iBoot is a separate thing and has a much lower version number.

I doubt this... blackra1n only works in recovery mode.

hi olethros budddy i also had doubt for the same but i did it practically on my 3gs today if u remember we talked about my 3gs in recovery mode and u suggested irecovery. i did tried it and i also know that i recovery works but i tried blackra1n on my 3gs to kick it out of recovery mode. and it worked liked butter and for my surprise it also jailbreaked my 3gs without restoring my firmware to custom firmware 3.1.2. my stock firmware was 3.1.2. and my iphone was unlocked for info.
and yes sorry to mention that olethros is rite that it will work in recovery itunes recovery mode but it also works on dfu mode just try it.

Week 48 means 99% likely that it is new bootrom.
