Take a look at the sticky, it explains how and why this works -- make sure you have the right versions of the software and make sure you're using the latest version of Blackra1n, then make sure you follow the instructions -- this *should* be a 100% working fix for nearly all users with this issue.

Default 3.1.2 stuck in recovery loop

I got stuck in a recovery loop yesterday after I could not send out picture messages...uninstalled a T-Mobile carrier bundle and I reset network connections - phone had to reboot, usually I run blackra1n and everything is OK.

But yesterday geohot's face was on my screen a lot longer than usual and it booted up to the connect to iTunes screen - I ran blacra1n again and the same thing - I don't get a spinning wheel or anything just geohot's face goes black and then reboots to an apple logo and then to the connect to iTunes screen.

Tried to get it into DFU mode and tried to use iRecovery with no success (I have a similar log to the one posted on this thread).

Tried running blackra1n on my PC overnight - it was repeating the make it ra1n step multiple times until it finally got to where the battery was showing it was in red and close to depletion - so I thought I was close...woke up and it just had a connect to iTunes screen and it showed that blackra1n was not responding...and it looks like it charged while in this state

Ran down the battery again and I am now doing the PC/blackra1n reboot cycle again - I am still on 3.1.2 and I have the SCSH files saved on Cydia - should I try to do a restore on iTunes to 3.1.3 and then downgrade if this process does not work or is there anything else I can try?

You can try the specially modified version of redsn0w mentioned in this thread http://www.hackint0sh.org/f220/124913-6.htm#post542317

Or you can try the KILLSUB redsn0w - linked here

Thanks Olethros, tried it today and numerous other things and I just couldn't kick it off the loop - even got a black screen a couple of times but I guess it wasn't DFU mode because iTunes wouldn't allow the firmware.

I finally got frustrated and just updated to 3.1.3...I knew I would lose the unlock, but I still have my 1st gen iPhone, so I will wait until they can unlock the new baseband - really stinks that I could not find a way to utilize the SHSH files I have on file with Cydia.

    Default Endless loop

    This is i did.
    iPhone 3gs new MC.

Needed to unlock so I went for 6.5 baseband using redsnow so i updated to 4.21
I was able to to fix the white cydia icon by booting tethered then i proceed and run ultrasnow and ever since the phone has been on and endless recovery loop.

I have tried everything out there now am trying to understand my irecovery log to see if I can get any assistance.
