Nice thing.
Thanks.

My Original 10.4 install DVD is quite old and I'm hesitating to install the language-files included in it within a 10.4.10.

Am downloading this currently in the hope the install DVD will boot natively on my Asus P5B ICH8 board and allow me to install normally - there is some reference to jmicron patch in the release notes. Have been using the Uphuck 1.4i R2 and vmware to native method to install and thats always a hassle though it is ingenious for whoever discovered it.

Bad News. Just like Uphuck, this installer can't boot from the DVD on my Asus P5B Jmicrom ICH system. (I wonder why Intel introduced so many complication with this problem chip) I get the standard 'bootlist... ' not found error.
Even worse at least with Uphuck I can do a Vmware to native install, with XXX, its not booting even in Vmware, gets stuck in login window. Uphuck 1.4i R2/3 installer dvd boots just fine in Vmware. So for me this is not working at all. Others with P965/ICH8/R who have tried this installer please report your experience.
EDIT: This was an error on my part, the Vmware to native install works with XXX-10.4.10 and at a decent speed too, I made the mistake of using the ISO file directly in Vmware, using the DVD drive instead worked as fast as any other distribution. My apologies.

Ok, I managed to get this booting in Vmware. Intend to get a ide to sata connector soon to avoid this hassle on my P5B Jmicron. My experience with 0SX86 has so far been only with Uphuck so I will use that as a reference point. A few things:
1. The installer goes into 64 bit mode in vmware and vmware crashes, I have to manually give boot option -legacy. System optimization in the installer takes a lot of time, what exactly does it do?
2. I managed to install in Vmware to native and when I reboot from the real drive the bootloader doesn't give any options like in Uphuck so I can put the option - legacy for instance, just boots directly into 64 bit mode. Is there any way to change this.
3. So far after booting everything seems to work ok, just like in Uphuck. Will have to use it more to get a better idea.

keep on pressing F8 before it boots. That would take you to the Darwin boot menu.
If you want it in that way by default you must edit the boot.plist.

Hi Blackchungo, thanks for that. A quick question, any particular reason it is necessary to put the -legacy option in your this distribution, I didn't have to do that with Uphuck.
Also I had speedstep working with an applet in the Applications folder in Uphuck1.4i R2. I didn't select the remove cpu power management kext from the installer options yet I don't have that applet. How do I get it. Thanks for you help.

Uphuck's DVD shurely uses another kernel to boot.
Applet....? Do you mean the CPUtrottle.app?...
Thats not included in this distro. I guess you can get the downloading links in the IRC (#appleacpi @ irc.osx86.hu)
