Default Strange installation failure 10.4 (target disk problem)

Hi, I'm trying to install the Kalyway 10.4.10 release, and I'm hitting a rather strange problem. The "choose which volume to install osx on" pane is empty. I tried using diskutil (yes, selected the mbr option) but every time I get the pinwheel of death.
I'm on an Acer Aspire 380 (AMD 64) system. I've got a 250G internal SATA hard drive but I'm not quite sure what the controller manufacturer is.
    Any help?
    Thanks, ~fuzu42

Hi there, i have the same problem with my desktop machine.. . I have internal sata2 74GbHDD western digital. 10.000 rpm 8Mb buffer. ( its empty and already formated as FAT 32 as required)
I,ve read somewhere that SATA drives are not recognised by any of the hackintosh versions, therefore you mast have am internal IDE hard drive or USB/Firewire (external one) in order to suceed. Not so sure about this do! I hav'nt got any IDE Hard drive at hand, nor external ones.(limited budget!!! . I will keep searching in other threads or forums for a real solusion to this problem. Meanwhile if any of you guys know a solution to this <hop> please, please come forward and tell as. Thanx in advance! ...
PS: i've even tried to format a USB (4Gb key) all to no avail. The disk utility see the drive but refuse to format it. And without this of course the installer would'nt see it at all. Well.........keep searching.
