SATA Install Problems - Help!!
Hey Guys,
I'm a noob to all this OSx86 stuff. I recently downloaded the JaS 10.4.8 AMD/Intel torrent from demonoid and tried to install it. Okay, so the kernel booted fine, i got to the setup screen. When i got to the choose uy installation destination screen, i could not see my HD. I could not even see it in disk utility. I suspect that it has something to do with my nForce 4 chipset and my SATA HD 120 GB. Will someone please help me?
Thank You!!!!

you might want to try uphucks dvd. Might work but I suspect you are in the same boat as me. You will need to do a vm instal first the manually add sata support by copying the right kexts. You should then be able to boot natively.

So, you've installed it from VMWare onto the virtual drive and copied it over using the "dd if=/dev/hda...." command. Now, when you say it's not booting are u getting a flashing cursor? If so, the reason could be due to at the time you formated the VMWare Virtual HDD (or your actual partition) for the install of OS X, you didn't partition it in the Disk Utility while "Master Boot Record" in options dialog box under the partition tab.
Hope this helps!

I also am having the same problem. I've been looking at these forums for two straight days and am pulling my hair out because I can't get the installs to recognize my drive. I believe that solution is a simple one. I just need a shove in the right direction. The wiki says that my computer is very compatible so I have not lost hope. If anyone can help with some good tutorials or any post that could help axplain my problem in detail. Thanks.

RE: SATA drive recognition...
Hi to phukedup et al... I'm new to this as well, and had the same problem with SATA drive recognition at the install phase.... but my investigations so far indicated that with an AMD system, you need an IDE drive... when I swapped to the spare IDE I had, the
installer recognised it, and the install seemed to proceed OK... but now it won't restart
completely... the Apple sign comes on, but after a minute, the "You need to restart your
computer" sign comes on, an i can't get past that as yet... so any hints appreciated...
