Grey reboot screen after install
Like the title says, I've been able to complete the installation (aside from the common Mach_reboot problem) successfully. I am using the Vista boot loader, choosing my Mac OS X option, and then watching the little spinning thing until it tells me to reboot by holding the power button or pressing the reset button.
I did a very basic install the first time, using only the core required files and the Intel required package. The second time I thought maybe it was a driver issue, and erased the OSX partition, installed the previous packages and the NV40 option on the JaS 10.4.8 disk (all PPFs applied). After that resulted in the same issue, I then added the Intel login fix, but still had the same problem. The only thing I have yet to do is to use OS X as my only OS. I would rather not have to reinstall Vista again, but I fear its the only way I may figure out if its related to the problem.
So, What exactly is happening during that grey loading screen? Is it loading drivers, checking hardware ... it kind of confuses me. I tried pressing F8 there and such, but nothing responds. Is there some way I can force an error out of it? Does it create a dump anywhere I can pull through the terminal in the installer? I'm very new to everything Mac OS X, so sorry for what may be very basic questions.
I should also note my hardware. I'm running a C2D e6600 (overclocked) with 2gb of corsair dominator ram, 200gb HDD (with an empty volume crossing the 128gb mark), and an evga 680i sli motherboard. I have two evga 8800gts video cards in sli as well. I tried to disable the second core, turn on maxval id on the proc, and disabling the nic, on board audio, and legacy usb as I had read there had been some success with that. I guess what I'm saying is, I have no clue where to go from here. I'm thinking I may even try the VMware install work around with the ISO instead of the burned DVD just incase something isnt getting written or read somewhere.
So, sorry for the long post, but hopefully someone can point out where I'm screwing up.
