Hello

I'm running a 2.75 ghz P4 processor with 1 gb ram
with a ECS 4M 800 PRO-Mv1.0 motherboard running, for now everything off of the mainboard.

I installed 10.4. and OSX does not recognize my ethernet port. The light flashes on the port, and with Linux and Vista I never had a problem, but when I go into the network options in OSX to set up my internet.

Code:

"I connect to the internet through a DSL modem"

is grayed out and not selectable. And as far as I can tell it means that The OS doesn't recognize the ethernet port. When I use the network utility on the startup disk, and I attempt to ping, it says it has no route to the other host.

I'm barely familiar with MAC OS at all, and any suggestions as to how I can remedy this problem will be appreciated.

just to update, I installed an ethernet card, then a wireless card, both to no avail....
