Default Only able to boot into OSX with rd?

Since installing OSX, I've only been able to boot to it from the cd using "rd=disk3s1". I've tried chain0 - but that won't work. I get a "Chain boot error". Any ideas? I'm trying to dual boot osx with pre-existant xp installation.

    Thanks!
