Question [Leo4All v3] Advice for installing

    Hi,

I have tried reading thru my guides and threads regarding installation on Leo4All but I get more and more confused the more I read.

I have downloaded the Leo4Allv3 DVD to my Windows PC and will burn it to DVD using Nero (slow speed). My Dell 9200 PC Specifications are

    Number of processors - 1

Number of cores - 2 per processor

Number of threads - 2 per processor

    Name - Intel Core 2 Duo E6320

    Specification - Intel® Core™2 CPU 6320 @ 1.86GHz

    Package - Socket 775 LGA

    Family/Model/Stepping - 6.F.6

    Extended Family/Model - 6.F

    Core Stepping - B2

    Technology - 65 nm

L2 cache (per processor) - 4096 KBytes, 16-way set associative, 64-byte line size

    Chipset & Memory - Northbridge
    Intel P965/G965 rev. C2

    Southbridge
    Intel 82801HH (ICH8DH) rev. 02

    Graphic Interface - PCI-Express (NVIDA GeForce 7900GS)

    PCI-E Link Width - x16

    PCI-E Max Link Width - x16

    Memory Type/Size DDR2 2GB

    System
    System Manufacturer - Dell Inc.

    System Name - Dell DXP061 (Dell 9200)

    Mainboard Vendor - Dell Inc.

    Mainboard Model - 0CT017

    BIOS Vendor - Dell Inc.

    BIOS Version - 2.4.2

    BIOS Date - 03/30/2007

    Memory SPD
    Module 1 - DDR2, PC2-5300 (333 MHz), 1024 MBytes, Samsung

    Module 2 - DDR2, PC2-5300 (333 MHz), 1024 MBytes, Samsung

    Software
Windows Version - Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)

    DirectX Version - 9.0c

    So knowing the above information,

    1) Am I going to need any patches fixes when installing?

    2) What is the PPF iso fix for? Do I need to do that

    3) To be able to boot from DVD to install, do I need to change the boot procedure in Bios?

    4) I have two hard drives One 160GB with Windows Xp Home installed, and the Other 500GB formatted to NTFS, 300gb is currently free. I was thinking of using 100GB for the Mac86OS, will that be enough?

    5) Since my current Harddrive that I want use is all formatted to NTFS, how do I create/prepare a 100GB partition for Mac86OS without loosing existing Data that I want keep as a NTFS partition?

I'm sure I will have more question, but if someone will be kind enough to give me answers and guidance with the above question in a manner a dummy like me can understand, I will be very grateful.

    Thanks in advance

ok, so I tried booting the Leo4Allv3 OSX DVD and I got the following errors :

Extension "com.apple.driver.itunesphonedriver" has no explicit kernel dependency; using version 6.0.
in6_ifattach: io0 failed to attach a link local address.
    Still waiting for root device
    Still waiting for root device
    Still waiting for root device
    Still waiting for root device
    Still waiting for root device
    {"Still waiting for root device" message keeps repeating every minute}

Also a couple of things I forgot to add in the first post for the PC configuration are:
Wirelesss Network Card: Linksys Wireless-G PCI Card
HardDrive 1 (SATA): Western Digital 160GB (This has the Windows XP installed on it)
    HardDrive 2 (SATA): Maxtor 500GB - Partition0 400GB NTFS - Partition1 100GB (for OSx86 Leo4allv3)

I allocated the 100GB Partition using the DISKPART utility.

Please help, I really want this to work.

I have a Gateway Desktop with similar config.
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6320
    Intel 945G chip set
    2G Ram
    SATA 500G harddisk

I tried Leo4all v2 & v3, both had the same problem. It may be SATA related.

However, I used Kalyway DVD to boot and install sucessfully. Please try that and enjoy.

Thanks for the pointers, I read in the 'official' wiki for Leo4all that there are problems installing with hardware that has Sata hard drives and Sata DVD Drives. So I used an external usb DVD drive and bingo, it got to the Mac Installation screen, then since the hard drives are Sata it does not see any of the drives. Apparently there is a solution but it seemed way too complicated to be worth it. So I will try Kalway flavour next and see what happens. Thanks again.

    Incompatibility (maybe your DVD Drive is ATA, same at mine);

Fix it making a install using a External USB DVD Drive. Works great.

    Goodluck, post back results.

Yes, I did try using external USB DVD drive and yes it got me to the Install screens except it would not see my SATA hardrives at all. But when I used Kalyway10.5.2 not only did work with my built-in Sata DVD drive, it recognized my both my Sata harddrives and installed successfully. Only problem now is getting the built-in NIC or the Linksys Wireless-G pci card working.

For Wired Network problems, you need replace IONetworkingFamily.kext, for Wireless, you need specified kext for card model, in case of Linksys cards, i don't know kexts for this.
