Hi Ravi,
I got leopard installed on my Sony Vaio sz on external USB drive with no problems.
did you select mbr or guid during install?
try booting in verbose mode by using "-v" in darwin bootloader. paste the error you are getting..
As you are using leopard on internal hardisk, do make a backup of your mbr and partition table using active parition recovery on XP or linux boot disk.

hey Aakash,
Actullly i read ur post on blogspot and and followed the instructions on there as well before writeing here for help, but it did not work for me, i tried booting it in verbose mode as well, it give a screeen with a lot of not same family error and hangs up there. i tried both the bootloaders.
Im kinda noob to this, this is what i exactly did.....i purchased a new internal hard-drive, took off my vista hard-drive and installed the new empty harddrive on my laptop, and booted the pc on Kalyway disc, installed Leopard, everything goes fine, then when the install is done, it restarts automatically, and my pc hangs up on the boot screen.
i tried instally it with a lot of diff options again n again a copule of times, but te result is the same

coolestrl,
Kalyway haveing some incompatibilities, work for some ppl, in your case, b/c you have a good Intel machine, a recommended you to install ToH RC2 or Leo4All.
Btw, try use some tricks:
* restart with boot opts -F -x -v
Goodluck,
NEW TRICK:
Try this:
Boot using F8 and type:
-s
When prompt ok, type:
passwd root
(Change password for root users here)
and type:
touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
Reboot and see boot-up ok.

Did you format the drive on install? I had a similar problem, with the installer saying the drive was available for install, but it wasn't until I opened the utility menu on install and formatted it for OSX--its not like windows where it tells you what to do--

In DiskUtil, choose entire partition, choose number of partitions, choose format type...
Maybe this can help you too: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.h...4/en/mh14.html

I have a Sony VAIO PCV-RS410 with an Intel Pentium 4 possessor, I too encountered many issues trying to install leopard on it. After trying everything I could find I finally got it to work by running and installing iATKOS v1.0iR2, it has all kinds of patches that helped and the installation was so easy and smooth. After installation was complete and my computer rebooted I too suffered from the white screen with the gray apple. I restarted my computer and at the Darwin boot screen hit F8 and typed cpus=1 and that got it to boot into leopard or at times that might nit work so I also use –v cpus=1 and that boots leopard without the white screen with the gray apple. Hope this works for you. Good luck

hey there,
Ive successfully installed kalyway 10.5.2 on my vaio cr123e!
I had the same problem as you did. The install runs smooth and when I restart, I would get a blue screen followed by a blank screen with lines running thru. There is a simple fix for this.
when u restart the computer, boot into kalyway as a single user by typing '-s' then 'enter'.
then type the following code:
/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
./movevideodrivers
then it will prompt all the video drivers it has (ATI, nvidia, GMAx3100 etc). say 'no' for the ones that don't apply to your compu and 'yes' to the one the applies (it should be GMAx3100). then type 'exit' and press enter. it should boot into kalyway!!! Now you should see all the welcome/setting gui's and all...
IF FOR SOME REASON THAT DOES NOT WORK, TRY THE FOLLOWING (only if the one above doesn't work):
again, boot as a single user by typing '-s' as startup of kalyway. then type the following code:
/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
cd /System/Library/Extensions/
rm -rf AppleIntelGMA*
once done, type 'exit' and press 'enter'. it should boot into kalyway... these two should work, or they did for me on my cr123e with x3100.
few problems ive had after installing kalyway on my cr123e:
1. the resolution is 1024x768. I cannot seem to increase it to 1200x800. tried a lot of apple updates etc, but no success.
2. my wireless does not work (intel wireless wifi link 4965AGN). after a lot of research/reading various fourms, i found out that the drivers for this are under development. and the one that they have right now don't work yet. tried that anyways, but didnt work.
3. headphone/mic jacks dont work. the sound works just fine from the two built-in speakers in my laptop, but the jacks dont work.
4. sleep/wake doesnt work and 'shut down' only restarts the computer.
other then these issues, ethernet works just fine. if anyone knows how to fix these issues, your help will greatly be appreciated!!! thanks in advance.. : )

You need new "drivers" for Intel x3100. Try looking for this at irc.osx86.hu, there had rooms to talk about videocards.
Goodluck
