I've searched and found some troubleshooting steps, but I'm still facing this issue. I've disconnected my Windows SATA drive completely, and I have a FAT32 EIDE drive hooked up with master jumpers on the primary EIDE channel. My two optical drives are set to master/slave jumpers on the secondary EIDE channel.

When installing Kalyway 10.5.2 to this box, it will hang at "Still waiting for root device" before the installation begins.

Specs:
HP a1129n Desktop:
MSI MS-7093 Mobo (ATI Radeon Express 200 series chipset)
AMD64 3400+ CPU
300GB EIDE Seagate HDD
BFG NVidia GeForce 7600 GT OC (PCIE)
1.5GB RAM

Just gave it a shot.. same problem.

I also tried it in VMWare, same issue there as well.

Try use a SATA or SATA 2 connections for HDD and IDE Master for DVD. It work fine for me on AMD NForce Systems.
