Default installer would not recognize my hard drive

i have a problem trying to install mas osx 10.4.9 on my samsung laptop.
when it gets to the part of the installation where i am supposed to choose where to install the o\s, i donīt see my hard drive. canīt find it in the hard drive tool thing either.
i have vista installed on one partition, and one partition with nothing in it for the mac os x. do i need to format it for hfs+ or something before i start? how do i do that?

Read this about setting a partition as type =AF

Once you create your other partition and set it as type=AF; format it FAT32.

Reboot using your OSX86 DVD then use diskutility to erase that partition and format it HFS+.

Pick your patches and enjoy your new hack.
