Also when I try and install on vmware using a physical drive with the OSx86 DVD in it goes to the install fine

mak sure no usb devices are plugged in. Also do a harddisk scan.

Well, they are SATA drives, and I don't think it likes sata. I was on IRC and some guy said I could install it native on an IDE drive, then use "mac to mac" and image it onto a SATA partition so I could boot it natively on a SATA hdd. Is that possible?
