    Question [iAtkos 2.0i] install issue

I am trying to install iAtkos 2.0i on a HP 6400F - Intel dual core E2200 2.2 ghz

( I installed this iAtkos 2.0 on a Celeron 3.0 just fine except it only gives me 1024x786 video )

But I really want to install it on my HP 6400F -

I start and then just hangs -

    if I use -v

the last msg says "Extention "com.apple.driver.apci_smc_platformplugin" has immediate dependencies and bot com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components; use one style"

Any one have an idea what I need to do???

    Hi,

Boot using -s and type on prompt:

    Code:
    /sbin/mount -uw /
    rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleSMC.kext
    rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
    rm -rf /System/Library/Caches/*
    reboot
Try now boot using -v and let's see if working...

    Post back results.

    Goodluck,

Default same problem in iAtkos 4i

I'm getting exactly the same problem trying to install iAtkos 4i on my Asus X55s laptop:

    2.4ghz intel core2duo (centrino T8300)
    2gb ram
    250gb sata drive
    nVidia 9500

I've tried pressing F8 and then using the "Boot: -s" option as suggested, but it just goes through the same motions it did before when I chose "Boot: -v" and hangs at:
    Code:
Extention "com.apple.driver.ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin" has immediate dependencies and both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components; use only one style.
I don't get a unix terminal prompt. Just has a solid white ascii block after the last line, and then nothing.

I've thought about downloading Kalyway, but i don't really wanna waste another 3.6Gb of my limited monthly bandwidth quota only to turn up the same result.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
    Murphy

Well, for DVD boot case...nothing to do, this trick in mine post is only for installed systemz.

This is happens by some incompatibility with your machine/chipset.

You can try install other osx86 DVD there.

Sigh, thanks for the reply. I was hoping that wasn't going to be the case.

I spent all night messing around cause I thought that maybe i could get around the problem by loading a lite/live linux distribution like Puppy to make the changes, but it was a stupid idea and didn't even occure to me that it was no good cause the OSX file system wasn't actually mounted cause it hadn't been installed.

Then it occurred to me, if these files you recommended deleting from the installed file system are the same ones causing the boot problem for the Darwin Kernel on the DVD file system would it be possible to mount the iAtkos 4i ISO on my MacPro desktop system, use the darwin terminal to delete the necessary files from that mount, then burn it back to dvd and try to boot from the now altered iAtkos DVD?

What do you think? Is this possible... or do you think that it's just getting silly complicated and better to just try with kalyway?

    Thanks
    Murphy

Like i said, Australia is a first world country... with third world telcos. Downloading another 3.6gb of kalyway ontop of 2.6gb i've already downloaded in iAtkos will all but destroy my month download quota which only ticked over this time last week (Not to mention there isn't any guarantee kalyway will work either). If i still can't get it to work i guess i'll have not choice as a last resort to download kalyway, but until then...

Besides, i was wrecked at work all day today cause i was up all night thinking about how to fix this. I really wanna beat this problem now.

Anywho, i digress. On with my afore mentioned devious plan:

I mounted the iATKOS 4i.ISO to my Quadcore MacPro desktop and opened a Darwin terminal.
    Code:
Last login: Tue Sep 9 18:15:42 on console
    Welcome to Darwin!
    [omega:~] murphy% cd /volumes/iatkos\ 4i
    [omega:/volumes/iatkos 4i] murphy% ls -all

As you can see, (and as i suspected) it contains the Darwin file system. Stands to reason it would have to if its loads the darwin kernel to install OSX.
Problem is, when i try to delete the offending files that f41qu3 suggested i get this:
    Code:
    [omega:/volumes/iatkos 4i] murphy% rm -rf /volumes/iatkos\ 4i/system/library/caches/*
    rm: /volumes/iatkos 4i/system/library/caches/com.apple.bootstamps/2F9E0D53-A722-3F30-B8C6-AFBDE806EC18: Read-only file system

    rm: /volumes/iatkos 4i/system/library/caches/com.apple.bootstamps: Read-only file system

    [omega:/volumes/iatkos 4i] murphy% rm -rf /volumes/iatkos\ 4i/system/library/extensions.mkext
    rm: /volumes/iatkos 4i/system/library/extensions.mkext: Read-only file system
The extensions directory in the system library doesn't seem to exist on the DVD file system.
Anywho, obviously the files are Read-only cause it wasn't mounted using the:
    Code:
    /sbin/mount -uw /
This is my next hurdle. My skills at manually mounting file systems in linux were always pretty weak. Even though they're similar my unix skills are even less. not withstanding the fact that this isn't a regular file system but a mounted ISO.

Any suggestions on how i should go about this? How would i change the permissions on these files, or mount the ISO file using the -uw option?

    Thanks
    Murphy

You try install Leo4All v3 or JaS 10.5.4?

Just checked, those too distributions are the same size or even larger than kalyway, so my argument of my having a limited monthly bandwidth cap still stands.

Is there perhaps some lite / live darwin x86 kernel that i can download (without killing my download limit) to boot the machine and load the basic kernel into ram, and then swap the disk out with iAtkos or my genuin MacOSX disks to run disk utility and install the OS?

As it is, i worked out how to mount the ISO as writeable.

    Code:
    hdiutil attach iatkos_4i.iso -readwrite
I deleted the nessisary files using terminal, and i'm in the process of burning it back to disk as i type. This might not work, but fingers crossed.

    Murphy
