Help - is my system working at correct CPU freq?
I'd successfully install uphuck 10.4.9 1.3 with the following install selection:
- 10.4.9 Intel
- Intel SSE 3 - 2 (Kernel)
- ATi X19x0 (VGA Drivers)
- Azalia Audio
- Some Languages
My System Spec:
CPU: Intel C2D 6420
RAM: 2 x 1GHz DDR2 800
Mobo: Gigabyte 965P-DS4 Rev. 3.3
GFX: Connect3D 1950pro
HDD: 2 x SATA HDD
ODD: 1 x SATA LG Writer
After installation, I install the necessary drivers. I also updated AppleSMBIOS.kext in order to work with CS3
What catch my attention was when I was learning how to use sysctl to check my Mac and get the following:
MacKnight$ sysctl -a | grep freq
kern.exec: unknown type returned
hw.busfrequency = 1064000000
hw.cpufrequency = 2133000000
hw.tbfrequency = 1000000000
kern.cpu_currentfreq: 1333
kern.cpu_minfreq: 1000
kern.cpu_maxfreq: 1333
hw.busfrequency: 1064000000
hw.busfrequency_min: 1064000000
hw.busfrequency_max: 1064000000
hw.cpufrequency: 2130000000
hw.cpufrequency_min: 2133000000
hw.cpufrequency_max: 2133000000
hw.tbfrequency: 1000000000
I install CoreDuoTemp and found that it reports my system working at 1.33 GHz frequency.
I don't know what is wrong or did I misinterpret sysctl??? Is the kern freq the same thing as hw freq?? Is there a limit to the freq the kernel can support?
I expect the kernel to be able to work at max 2.13 GHz. My FSB and hw.cpufrequency is correct. I even attempt setting fsb=266 in com.apple.Boot.plist but that has no effect.
What else should I check or can I manually set kern.cpu minfreq, kern.cpu_maxfreq, kern.cpu_currentfreq parameters? I don't know how to troubleshoot from here...
Any help/advice is most appreciated. Thanks in advance.
