[Hackintosh] Building your own, a few questions
Been thinking about making a Hackintosh on the cheap. I have wanted a Mac for awhile, but I don't have the kind of money to buy one. (read: poor high-school student) Here's what I've got sitting in my closet though, the guts of my Mom's old emachines PC.
Intel 865GVHZ Micro-ATX Motherboard
DDR 333 256mb RAM stick
DDR 400 256mb RAM stick
2.8 Ghz Intel Celeron 335 (Socket 478) (Single-core)
A couple of 40GB HDs and a RAID card
PNY Verto Geforce FX5200 256mb Video Card (PCI)
Anyway, I've not heard of any success with Socket 478 CPUs or mATX boards, is this a lost cause? This is an SSE3 chip if that means anything.
I've got about $300 set aside for a build if this won't work. Could someone give me a few links to cheaper hardware on Newegg that is known to work for Hackintoshes?
I've got a case and a Leopard disc that my Uncle gave me after he upgraded his Macbook. Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I can't seem to find any info about these components, and even though they are surplus I would like to be careful not to brick them.

should work..perhaps...just try it? you can pick up say a P4 off ebay that will work well and be affordable, my experience and understanding is that most intel processors will work, DDR definitely works as for the rest...well your just have to install and see maybee
